As the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers" and that has certainly been the case this year! The previous months' rains have caused our local hills and valleys to be adorned with one of the most bountiful palettes of wildflowers we've enjoyed in many years. But, all too quickly the onset of our hot Summer weather causes these to evolve from our view, but they will certainly remain in our memories. And so goes the cycle of life which is always in flux and transition. Likewise, our Association's governance team is transitioning with the conclusion of our Annual General Meeting and election held on April 24th. This election involved the selection of three members who will serve for the 2019-2021 term. They joined the four members who are currently serving their 2018-2020 terms. As a result, we now have a newly constituted Board of Directors. And, as is customary, the Board subsequently elected your Board Officers who will serve over the next 12 months. We are most grateful to have folks in our community who unselfishly offered themselves to serve in this capacity. Having a slate of eight candidates from which to select three Board Members afforded us an opportunity to evaluate a variety of personal backgrounds and skill sets from which to choose. We want to thank all our owners who fulfilled their civic responsibility to complete and submit their ballots in a timely manner. As mentioned in previous messages, the governance of our Homeowners Association is a critical leadership responsibility. As such, it should not be taken lightly and is assumed by each Board Member with appropriate dedication to rendering decisions that are in the best interests of the greatest number of our residents. Each Board member commits to this goal so that we may continue the valued tradition of preserving, protecting and enhancing our Four Seasons community. If you will indulge me, I'd like to take this opportunity to share some personal comments. Since moving to Four Seasons in January of 2006, I have served our community in a variety of capacities. I have participated in an assortment of event committees. I have also chaired the Access Control and Emergency Preparedness Committees. In 2012, I was appointed to fill a seat on the Board of Directors when a K. Hovnanian builder representative vacated his position. Over the course of three elections since then, you have entrusted me to continue service by re-electing me to the Board. That trust is not something that I take for granted, so thank you! I would be remiss if I did not also offer my gratitude to my colleagues on the Board. Clearly, we have not always agreed. But debates bring about healthy dialogue and ultimately render the best decisions. Their years of selfless dedication to our Four Seasons community is noteworthy and much appreciated! I also want to acknowledge the outstanding FirstService Residential management staff. Having worked closely with them over these years has given me an "up close" perspective of just how dedicated they are to serving us. They are truly professionals! So, as I transition out of this role, I want you to know that I have endeavored to faithfully serve you as a member of your Board, for the past seven years. I have strived to be fair and objective as I have carried out these duties. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to have served this wonderful community, and I sincerely thank you all for your support and confidence! Your new Board of Directors looks forward to serving our Four Seasons community. With your help, and a collective commitment to serve the greatest good for the greatest number, there is virtually no limit to what we can accomplish. As renowned artist Pablo Picasso once said, "Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not." Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2019 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Ken Pounders, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Jim Crase and Greg Rockvam, Russ Brown President
