| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2018 | 3

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Charity week is over and what a week it was!
If you were not able to attend any of the events,
you missed a fantastic time while also giving
to many worthy charities in our pass area.
Since you have had a couple of weeks to
recover, you should be ready for the July Fourth
celebrations. We will have our traditional
parade and awards. This year we are having
two categories. First one will be for floats and
the second for golf carts. So, if you are not into
building but have a golf cart, start decorating.
It will be lots of fun and your opportunity to
show your patriotism.
The Board has a lot on their plate again
this year. Three major items: 1.) Budget
which again has its challenges with another
minimum pay increase of $1 an hour. This not
only effects our employees but also all vendors.
The three percent increase of water for each of
the next five years to be implemented by the
city. We will be publishing and announcing
the dates that you may attend and give your
input. 2.) Starting of turf reduction on golf
course and the common area. The Board
hopes to start by end of August. 3.) Going
out for bid to management companies. We
had six companies respond, this includes
Associa/PCM. By the time you read this, they
will have taken tours of our community. The
next process will be reading of the RFPs and
choosing finalists. I will continue to keep you
up to date on this process.
Sometimes I have difficulty coming up with
a good topic to write about each month. Then
the light bulb went off and I thought you can
help me. If you have a question or topic you
would like clarified or more information on,
please email me at skimkids@outlook.com. I
will do my best to write about it.
Now for my food for thought: I have two
quotes that I really like.
"There is one word that may serve as a rule
for all one's life - reciprocity." ~ Confucius
"By swallowing evil words unsaid, no one
has ever harmed his stomach." ~ Winston
Churchill
