mens golf With the news that, starting Jan. 1, all tournament entry fees would increase to a minimum of $10 per event our tournament participation for December was nearly unprecedented. We had exceptional weather for the Pinehurst and Three-InOne Tournaments, as well as elds that were near maximum numbers. This all portends a great start for 2013! What is also new for 2013 is that all tournaments played during the months of October through March will have 9 am start times, with the elimination of tournament afternoon rounds. Our Tournament Director, Dennis Stancik, has nally made the best possible decision in now stating that all tournament participants will play the same conditions. This also eliminates the playing of the Tuesday rounds for our very popular Quarterly Tournaments, but when fairness for all players is factored in this is absolutely the most pragmatic and just decision. Tournament start times will resume to 8 am for the months of April through September. Fred Rickman, our Membership Chairman, also reports that he will be sending the 2013 Membership handbook to the printer on Jan. 5. Therefore, all members that have procrastinated in getting in their 2013 Membership Applications and appropriate fees are reminded they must have these forms and fees handed directly to him by Jan. 4, if they wish to have their listing published in that handbook. These forms, mailed out during the rst week in October and including a $3 increase in the dues from the SCGA, were due on Dec. 1. The total due for membership this year is now $63. Jan. 1, is also when the new 2013 Mens Club board ofcially takes over leadership of our club, and we could not have a group of more qualied and distinguished leaders. For 2013 our club will be lead by: Steve Munday, as Club President; Jack Smith, Vice President; David Kealy, Secretary; Gary Strachn, Treasurer; Dennis Stancik, Tournament Chairman; Fred Lutka, Handicap and Rules Chairman; Brian OConnell, Publicity Chairman and BREEZE Editor; Fred Richman, Membership Chairman; and Marv Jensen, Social Chairman. If you are new to the community or have recently taken up the game of golf you really should check out the Mens Golf Club. Our regular Mens Club day is Wednesday and all you have to do to play on this day is sign-up in the main pro shop. You dont have to be a member (except to play in tournaments), and youll get an opportunity to play with our club and meet our friendly members. Dont have a foursome in which to play? No problem. Just ask on of our great pros to set you up into a foursome that might be missing a fourth man. Youll nd out rst-hand what the spirit of golf is all about and also about the camaraderie that is shared will all of our members! It REALLY is all about the people!
