Friends we will miss Robert Lane Balen, age 85, moved to Sun Lakes in 2003 from Newport Beach. After surviving cancer for six and a half years, Bob gave up his ���ght on November 8, 2012. He will be missed by his loving family and friends who celebrated his life with Joyce Lawhorn, his partner for 20 years. The celebration was at their home here in Sun Lakes. This loving man will be missed by his caring and attentive family. Daughter, Kathy, sons Mark and Brad, grandchildren Candice, David, Amber, Philip, Kelly and Chad and the beginning of a new and exciting generation, Scarlett, Caleb, Madaline and Delilah who were all in attendance. Robert loved life and lived it to the fullest. John Joseph De Santis was born on October 16, 1938, in Gloversville, New York to Nunzio (Phil) and Susan De Santis. He passed away very peacefully on October 15, 2012, one day before his 74th birthday after suffering a long battle with Alzheimer���s. John graduated from Hamilton High School in West Los Angeles and received his B.S. degree in business from California State University Northridge, then called San Fernando Valley College. After college he started a career in insurance and eventually had his own brokerage ���rm, Industrial Insurance Specialists. In 2003, John and his wife, Betty, retired to Sun Lakes where John enjoyed the club���s gym and indoor swimming pool. He was truly loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betty; daughters Mary Beth De Santis and Christine (Israel) Amadisto; grandchildren, Israel, Jr. and Ashley Amadisto; sister Theresa (Craig) Carpenter; and niece, Susan Carpenter. He lived a life that was full of accomplishments and was loved dearly by family and friends. He was born January 9, 1923, in Estes Park, Colorado. He served in the Navy during WWII. After graduating from the University of Denver and University of Missouri School of Dentistry, he opened his own dental clinic. He enjoyed married life for over 65 years and had three children: Chris, Nancy and Cathy. He lived the good life in Sun Lakes for 18 years which included his love and passion for golf, a supply of endless mystery novels, and taking his family out for lovely meals. He was always such a generous and kind man to his grandchildren, Phyllis and Emily, who adored him whole heartedly. His wife Doris and family wish to thank friends for their expressions of sympathy.
