Garden Club We meet Jan. 3, at 9 am in the Ballroom. We will focus on planning the events and topics for the New Year. For new residents, there will be information gained from experience on which plants do well here at Four Seasons and which ones struggle and require high maintenance. We also pass on information about the local nurseries and garden shows. Mostly our club is about sharing information and ideas so please join our meetings and add yours. Above photo is a Smoke Tree growing near the sidewalk in front of the model homes on Mesa Verde. It is a multistemmed small tree that turns a smoky pink color from June through August. Leaves are showy, turning from medium blue-green to yellow-red-purple in the fall. In the winter it is barren. It is a good choice for a shrub border or other grouping, adaptable to many soils. This plant grows to 10 to 15, 12 spread. ~ Len Tavernetti Correction: The beautiful Arch of Roses pictured in the last edition of the Breeze belonged to Rosemary Ashcrafts garden, not Rosemary Ash. Discovery Club Its never been easier to do your family tree, and most of it can be done on your computer right at home. A very big help was last year when the 1940 census was released to the public. Since many of us were born prior to that date, we are, for the very rst time, included in the data. And they keep making improvements in how searches are done. Just type in a name, give some basic information and you often come up with something useful. For example, the 1940 census even gives street addresses, job descriptions and annual income. You never know what youll nd or where youll nd it. If youve been unsuccessful in past attempts, try again because new and more detailed information is continually being made available. And remember that surnames were often written incorrectly, so keep your eyes peeled for similar but different spellings and see what happens. If you need assistance, have suggestions, or want to be included on our email list, please contact the Club Captain. Notice of our next meeting will be sent via email.
