Ping Pong Club Racquet Club Ready to renew your love affair with a tennis racquet? The FSBRC and its 60+ members are anxious for you to get started on your 2013 resolution and begin knocking the yellow fuzz off a tennis ball! Most of our members hadnt held a racquet in years when they moved here but started practicing/conditioning at the Tuesday night drills with Cheryl Smith, our Developmental Coach. Shes just blessed with methods, teaching skills and senior enthusiasm to bring you and your game rapidly along. The rst step? Email Cheryl at casnah@aol.com and youll be on the list for Tuesday drill invites. Then join us the last Saturday of each month for our Play Days where members drill for 90 minutes with Cheryl, then play social rotating doubles before adjourning to the Bistro for a non-hosted lunch. To join, and be on the roster for all our events, email Howard Lyon hwlyon@yahoo.com. Annual dues are $20, drills for members are $5 both on Tuesdays and Play Days. Want more info. on the Club, go to our website: FSBRC.org and youll see our Wannabee a Champion faces. Cold and wind knocked out our November Play Day but good vibrations returned on Dec. 1, for an impromptu Reds vs. Blues mixed doubles. Eight combatants participated and with partners switching became two very competitive courts. Thanks to Irve, Jo and Randy, Steve Hovey, Garrett, Howard Levine, Den, Ledia, Barbara and Larry for making this a big, spontaneous success! Does it seem possible? Were just 60 plus days away from the start of the 2013 BNP Paribas tournament at Indian Wells. You can be certain well sponsor a trip or two to one of the Worlds great tennis stages just an hour away. So be ready for announcements. Happy New Year and only love games for you in 2013. ~ Ken Elliott Our Ping Pong Club is alive and well. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a beginner we would love to have you join us. We play in the aerobics room Monday though Saturday starting at 10:30 am. A fun time is guaranteed and we also guarantee that the calories you burn up will not be missed. As the paddle courts are washed/maintained every Tuesdays, we have changed our play days to Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2 to 4 pm. We hope that the new play days t your schedule. Come and join us for exercise, fun and friendship. For more information please contact Alan Chan at (951) 769-4202 or Jim Cochran at (951) 769-5525. ~ Alan Chan Golng for Fun GOLF can best be described as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the occasional miracle, followed by a good bottle of beer. GOLF! You hit down to make the ball go up. You swing left and the ball goes right. The lowest score wins and the winner buys the drinks. A gimme can best be dened as an agreement between two golfers neither of whom can putt very well. GOLF is the only sport where the most feared opponent is you. The best wood in the amateurs bag is the pencil. These words of wisdom can help describe our Distinguished Duffers golf group efforts on Friday mornings to meet and improve our game But most of all, we have fun. If you wish to participate, contact Tim Jacobson (951) 797-3563, tjacobson@dc.rr.com or Phillip Harris (951) 922-6676, phillip.harris54@yahoo.com. ~ Tim Jacobson Pickleball Come on out and try the fastest growing sport in Four Seasons. Its fun! Its easy to learn! Best of all, its great exercise! If you havent tried it, you are missing out. After debating over the scheduled days and trying different combinations, we now have a set schedule. We meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10 am. We have good news for our players. Bids were submitted for painting the proper lines in the courts and one has been accepted. Our hopes are to see shiny new lines by February. For the time being, we are playing with temporary nets that are the proper height but we are working on getting permanent nets also. Our numbers are growing steadily and we have a roster of close to 40 players. On a regular basis, we have 15-17 players at each scheduled day. There is no doubt that we are going to have to start lobbying for another court as new members are added weekly. Come on out and join us. We have extra paddles for those who want to try out the game. We know youll be hooked. Pickleball is denitely the new, fun sport in our community.
