30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2018 | The old west has long fascinated most of us who grew up in an area that is so rich with western lore and history. When you think back to the music and movies, not to mention the T.V. shows that dominated a lot of our viewing habits of the 50s, 60s and 70s, we can't help but take a moment to reflect on the many T.V. programs that were of the western genre during those years. We almost immediately sit up and take notice when we hear The William Tell Overture, which was the theme music for The Lone Ranger T.V. series. Many western T.V. shows had been part of the movie mantinee offerings and a staple of what many kids growing up in that era would enjoy at most local theaters on any given weekend, mostly in the summertime. Many of the old western T.V. programs had catchy theme songs that prompted you to sing along. Anymore you can sing along to most of your favorite songs, though not too many T.V. theme songs at karaoke parties. Most people don't usually ask for T.V. show themes when they join Rosie Ingalls, Barb Miller and D.J. Blast for Sun Lakes "Goodtimes Karaoke." What most folks want to sing are songs they grew up with. As the years move forward we are discovering more and more highly talented singers who have become fans and are considered our extended Karaoke family. We are hoping that if you have not yet joined us for Karaoke that you consider that with the reading of this month's Lifestyles you will take it as an open invite for you to join Barb,Rosie and D.J. Blast this month on Fri., Aug. 11 in the South Clubhouse and also on Sat., Aug. 24 also in the South Clubhouse. Our shows begin at 5:30 pm and lasts until 9 pm. We hope to see you at either or both events. As usual we will keep a mic on for you. Karaoke Group
