| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2018 | 37 I hope everyone is keeping cool and enjoying the summer months. Just a friendly reminder; if you are going to the clubhouse for something to eat or drink don't forget to bring your ID card with you. NO CARD = NO FOOD OR DRINK! Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Aug. 16 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. This will give you more time for the much needed support group. As a caregiver, you are no good to your loved one if you don't take care of yourself. Please make time to attend. ALL caregivers are welcome. Doug Dean is now part of our team, so take advantage of all we have to offer. We are here to support and educate you, plus entertain your loved one while you attend the meeting. Drop your loved one off in the Arts and Craft Room for an hour of live entertainment, exercise, fun and games. All of the volunteers caring for your loved one has had a family member with dementia and have experience dealing with this disease. Thank you to Valerie Hubbard and Ed Avina who are always willing to entertain. Anyone who has a talent they would be willing to share with our patient group in the arts and craft room, please call me (Anne 845-8700). If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130, Doug 360-840-5559 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Here is another helpful hint to add to last month's hint for preventing CAREGIVER BURNOUT. Resist the urge to correct a loved one who keeps forgetting what day it is or how to work the TV. It's less stressful for them (and you ) if you let them make mistakes, or deflect the conversation to a different topic. If you're feeling burned out (and even if you're not) it's important to ask for help and take time for yourself . Continuing with 50 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE here are #s 25, 26 and 27 #25 People with Alzheimer's will need a power of attorney for financial and medical decisions. #26 They will also need a will and an advanced directive or living will. #27 Alzheimer's is progressive. This means symptoms get worse over time. Memory Care Group Sun lakes investor group The market is making new highs. How is your portfolio keeping up? Are you satisfied with your investment advisor? Would you like to feel comfortable trading stocks and possibly even options? Come join the Sun Lakes Investor Group. Some of our members invest on their own while others have advisers along with overseeing some of their own investments. We meet on Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. The Investor Group is led by Ajit Desai and Heidi Nyhoff. Ajit has been trading over several decades. He follows and teaches the CANSLIM methodology for stock selection and trading that was pioneered by William O'Neill, the founder of Investors Business Daily. We discuss stocks that our members are interested in, growth stocks that offer good returns, when to buy, when to sell, etc. Ajit also incorporates option trading to enhance portfolio returns. We look at and talk about real time numbers and pertinent information over the Internet during our meetings. We are tuned into market trends, and although no one has a crystal ball, it's important to have information to make wise or at least informed decisions. We do not invest as a group nor do we discuss dollar amounts of members portfolio's or trades. That's your business, not ours. If this piques your "interest," come visit. It is a Sun Lakes Group so there are no dues or bylaws. Joining us may turn out to be the best investment of your time, which could lead to superior returns on your portfolio. For more information, call or text Heidi Nyhoff, (760) 885-5126.
