| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2018 | 7 This year a new leadership and organizational system of The Emergency Preparedness Organization (EPAP) has been implemented. EPAP will be managed by an Executive Team of three members: Linda Stone, Dick Spaulding, and Michael Karpman. This divides up the management duties among the three, permitting more work to be done and new projects to be undertaken. Some of the projects are: • Expanded EPAP presence on the Sun Lakes website which includes extensive information for most EPAP volunteers and on-line training materials • Ongoing, comprehensive training for EPAP personnel EPAP has a dedicated cell phone that can be used 24/7 to notify the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), EPAP personnel and/or residents of a possible catastrophic event. At all times a member of the Executive Team will be in possession of the phone. The number is (951) 524-3126. Please remember this phone number is for reporting catastrophic events of concern to the Sun Lakes community. If there is a personal or family emergency always call 911. Executive Team members will: • Rotate possession the EPAP cell phone (the "football") • Update EPAP Policy • Plan the Annual Budget • Convene bi-monthly meetings of Unit Directors • Organize the annual drills: community-wide in June and for Unit Directors during the year Executive Team members and their duties are: Mike Karpman, Operations Unit Management and Training • Trains Unit Directors • Assists Unit Directors in preparing Unit Guidelines and training members • Monitors monthly EPAP budget • Replenishes Management Supplies in the EOC • Prepares Quarterly Bulletin Dick Spaulding, District Training • Implements training programs for District EPAP personnel • Interfaces with PCM and Master Board • Updates manuals for EPAP Homeowners and EPAP Management • Updates Job Descriptions for EPAP Personnel • Maintains website • Maintains FRS radio batteries • Monitors EPAP fire extinguishers • Liaison with and trains Community Patrol Linda Stone, Database and Communications Management • Maintains EPAP Management Roster, District Databases and email groups • Manages master and incident databases • Communicates with EPAP personnel and Districts via email • Manages Channel 97 emergency messages • Maintains equipment inventory database • Liaison with Animal Rescue and RV Group • Prepares new homeowners' packets EPAP is further divided into eight elements: 1. Public Information Officer 2. Communications Unit 3. Medical Unit 4. EPAP Patrol Unit 5. Animal Rescue Group 6. RV Group 7. Information Management Unit 8. Coordination Unit Each of the above elements is headed by a Director, who is a member the Executive Team's Management Staff. Look for more information about them in the next issue.
