FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2018 45 Betty Muhammad's love of young people and thirst for knowledge is what motivated her to dedicate 40 years of her life as an educator in the public school system teaching K-12 as well as adult education. She holds a M.A. Degree with specialty credentials in education and most recently earned a M.S. Degree in Health Psychology. She has also published three books; The Audacity to Teach with a companion Reflection Journal, and Food for the Soul; Feeding the Body, Mind and Spirit. Her joy comes from helping people change the behaviors that adversely alter their health. Betty's book proffers that eating one meal a day will prolong your life. In Betty's book Food for the Soul she states, "Everything in nature functions on a cycle. Researchers agree that it takes the digestive system between 24 and 72 hours to complete its cycle of absorption, distribution, excretion, and resting after a full meal has been ingested." According to the book, the more food we eat and the more frequently we eat (including beverages, snacks, cookies and candy etc.), the harder our body has to work in order to complete the digestive process. Eating too much and too often leads to food storage in the body which ultimately gives rise to excess fat, sickness, and disease, she states. As a passionate health-conscious individual, Betty has created a website www.TransformNationOnline.com, and uses this platform to teach people how to make the transformation necessary in order to improve their quality of life. She offers a seven-topic program the goal of which is to promote wellness. She discusses the process of eating foods that are best for the body; exercise; managing stress and weight levels; and taking control of your health by reducing the risk of contracting chronic illnesses. Take a look at Betty's website. You are also welcome to join Betty, along with other health-conscious women, online every Monday night at 7 pm, as they discuss healthy foods and behaviors.
