Can you believe it's August already? Where in the heck did July go? Oh, that's right, we had a really fun Fourth of July singles tournament! There were three different divisions to sign up for: (1) Red ~ the hot shots ; (2) White ~ the intermediate players; and (3) Blue ~ still learning. (Drum roll…) And the winners are: RED: 1st Bob Rector and 2nd Pete Antoine WHITE: 1st David Williams and 2nd Michael Rothberg BLUE: 1st Verina Rector and Leta Ramirez Check out the adjacent photos above of our outstanding winners! Trophies were awarded to each of the winners at the Fourth of July trophy presentation after the picnic at the Lodge. It was so much fun! Aug. 21 is our third quarterly tournament of the year. The winning team in the morning session will have a playoff with the winning team in the afternoon session and the resulting first and second place winners from that "shoot out" will have the honor of their names being inscribed on the BFFG plaque in the Billiards Room. So c'mon all you pool players! Join this fun group of men and women. We meet every Tuesday at either the 11 am to 1 pm session OR the 1 to 3 pm session. There are also informal practice sessions on Saturdays at the same time slots. Hope to see you soon! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Blue: 1st Verina Rector and 2nd Leta Ramirez Red: 1st Bob Rector and 2nd Pete Antoine White: 1st David Williams and 2nd Michael Rothberg 48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2018 The Secretary/Treasurer and Co-Captain were traveling for both 8-Ball in-house and 9-Ball in- house tournaments, but here are the results. Playing 8-Ball, it looks like Jone Babin beat Robert Howard in round two of competition, sending him into the loser's bracket. Jone then went on to be undefeated going into the final match. Robert meanwhile went on to win three in a row to jump back up into that final match. Robert then proceeded to win the first game to clinch the monthly title. Congratulations to Robert Howard but also to Jone Babin for some great games in the attempt. During the monthly 9-Ball in-house, it was Robert's turn to be undefeated qualifying into the finals. Kenny Payne was sent down into the loser's bracket during the second round of regular play but was victorious for three games to qualify himself for the final match. Robert won the final match and the monthly title but Kenny made a valiant effort. Congratulations to both Robert Howard and Kenny Payne for the match well played. The 8 Ball Club Officers are: Captain Del Lyles, Sr., (951) 845-5114; Co-Captain Roland Harrah, (951) 267-3793, rolandthanh@msn.com; Thanh Harrah, Secretary/Treasurer, (951) 267-3793, rolandthanh@msn.com. ~ Roland Harrah The 8-Ball Club The "Wild Bunch" 8-Ball Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of their skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 in our Billiards Room at Four Seasons. It has been a great success with the skill levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 7. The "Wild Bunch" consists of some of the best players in the league: Calvin Moore, Joe Spinella, Lucas Don, Bob Rector, Robert Turner, Pete Antoine, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, and Gracy Luna. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the billiards room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners; we play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively and, who knows, you just may want to change up your game and play on the team! And, most important, we have a good time! ~ Gracy Luna Wild Bunch Billiards Billiards for Fun Robert Howard and Jone Babin, 8-Ball Robert Howard and Kenny Payne, 9-Ball
