On June 26, the SDV Pickleball Club held our first "Easy Play" Team
Tournament.
What is "Easy Play?" Basically no slamming, smashing, hard hitting,
aiming directly at your opponent or aggressive play. Some people
tend to play a fast aggressive game. Not everyone likes to play a fast
aggressive game. A player CAN slow the game down using finesse.
Easy Play results in longer fun rallies which tests your pickleball skills.
Our awesome Pickleball Club instructors are teaching members to
play with more dinking (a soft shot that arcs over the net and falls into
the opposing non-volley zone which is called the kitchen), drop shot,
passing shot, overhead lobs and using cross court shots in their game.
If you would like to try Pickleball or just want to play an Easy Game, the
SDV Pickleball Club has specific "Easy Play" days on Tuesdays at 8 am
and Fridays at 6pm.
Ten members participated and were teamed up for our first Easy Play
Team Tournament. Depending on skill level some members received a
handicap. Team 1: Sue Rossi & Ted Delker, Team 2: Linda Weiss & John
Rossi, Team 3: Yolanda Funes & Greg Krebs, Team 4: Ron Brogdon &
Ralph Grider, Team 5: Shirley Ferruzzi & Steve Day
Team 1, Sue and Ted and Team 5, Shirley and Steve gave spectators an
exciting close final game! Team 5, Shirley and Steve, are the winners of
our first "Easy Play" Team Tournament. Second place Team 1, Sue and
Ted, and Team 2, Linda and John, came in third place.
