6 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | AUGUST 2018
PARTY IN THE USA!
By Clare Mendez, Resident
SDV residents and staff were ready to party on July Fourth as the
ballroom and patio filled up with a sea of red, white, and blue. We
ate our traditional Independence Day favorite foods prepared by
the Vets and Friends group, and sipped on the now famous "boozie
cones" prepared by our resident mixologists. The very talented
Jonnie Fox and the Satinettes entertained us for 2½ hours with
patriotic songs as well as other hits from the 50s and 60s.
The party spilled outside to the back patio where neighbors
played with the giant Jenga and Connect Four games and had their
faces painted by our receptionist, Melissa. Other SDV office staff
and employees (Barbara, Irma and Justin) dared to be soaked in the
dunk tank, and compete in the watermelon eating contest.
The watermelon eating contest was won by Ralph Grider after a
tie breaker between him and Julian Rabago. Ralph will be asked to
defend his championship next year so start preparing!
As always, many thanks to everyone who volunteered in both
ticket sales and food handling.
