I don't have a pet anymore but when I did I really enjoyed his or her
company. Like most people I had either a cat or a dog and loved either
one on the same level as pets go. The problem I had with having a
pet was that you can't leave your pet alone for any extended amount
of time without worrying about having someone pet sit while you're
gone, not to mention unexpected medical bills, food, cat litter,and
other incidentals. When you first get a pet you also have to come up
with a name that suits your new found furry friend. This brings me
to the topic of songs about pets or animals.
There have been a few. You may recall songs like "How Much Is
That Doggie In The Window" by Patti Page or how about "Puppy
Love" By Paul Anka in the 50s and Donny Osmond's version in the
70's. Elvis had "Hound Dog," Fabian sang a movie song "Hound Dog
Man." You might ask how about cat songs? You won't find as many
as dog songs for example, Petula Clark's "Cat In The Window," "Pussy
Cat"by The Ames Brothers," "Walking My Cat Named Dog" by Norma
Tenegra or "Cats In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin. Let's not forget "Cat
Scratch Fever"by Ted Nugent. Nugent also sang a dog song, "Dog Eat
Dog" in the mid 70s .
Maybe you know a song about pets or animals, whatever your
preference, when it comes to songs to sing you can ask Rosie Ingalls,
Barb Miller or D.J. Blast of Sun Lakes "Goodtimes Karaoke" for your
favorite pet or animal song. In September you can join Barb, Rosie
& D.J. Blast in the North Clubhouse on Sat., Sept. 8 from 5:30 to 9
pm. So if it's "Atomic Dog" by George Clinton or "Eye Of The Tiger" by
Survivor, we hope to catch you at our karaoke event this month and
as usual, we will keep a mic on for you.
