| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2018 | 53 Do you enjoy playing the billiard game of 8 Ball? If you do, come join us. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to practice with us Mondays through Saturdays, except for Thursday which is league play. We normally draw for partners at noon, then play until 2 pm or so. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three-month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four teams at 9 am and the other four at 1 pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of friendly one-on-one competition, come watch us play. For further information, please contact Steve Brown, 643-9880 (stvdeb@gmail.com). 'Twas a strange Summer Tournament! We had never had to cancel a whole week of tournament play before! A day here and there, but never all three days in one week! Looking forward to cooler temps for the Fall Tournament. The Fall Tournament schedule is a little different than the other tournament schedules. It is a split schedule, meaning the times change part way through the season. Because of the heat in September, we continue the summer times of 5, 6, 7 pm for the first few weeks, switching to earlier times, 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm after the first few weeks. That seemed to work out well last fall. A couple of reminders: any Bocce Club member can sub for a team. He/she doesn't have to be on the alternate list, the operative word being 'club member.' Also, check out the bulletin boards, back and front. If you need the name or phone number of any club member, it is found on the back side of the board. Also, the schedule for the entire bocce year is on the back of our cabinet. Questions? Call Dutch, 845- 0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce We are so excited to bring the amazing sport of Chess Boxing to Sun Lakes! The sport is exactly as it sounds — a round of chess followed by a round of boxing for 15 full rounds or until someone checkmates and/or passes out. Our matches are held every Monday at 8 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. If you are good at chess AND at hitting people, please join us! We also need sparring partners and people who know first aid. If you just want to cheer us on, we have spots available for audience members (there are 340 people signed up as of right now so there are only 60 spots available!). The audience is also responsible for clean-up and potluck duties. For more information, call me at (909) 797-3647. ~ Eric "The Nose" Smith Chess Boxing NEW GROUP!
