FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2018 35 Counter Culture Cinema Come join us this month for two more films you probably didn't catch at the local Cineplex. Our first monthly screening, on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 6 pm, is the film City of Gold (USA 2015, 1 hr. 36 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "City of Gold is about the transformative power of food and food writing in how we experience where we live. Pulitzer Prize winning critic Jonathan Gold (recently deceased) is our Virgilian guide, casting his light upon a vibrant and growing cultural movement, a movement in which he plays the dual roles of high-low priest and culinary geographer of his beloved Los Angeles." Our second monthly screening, on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 6 pm, is the film The Way (USA/Spain 2010, 2 hrs. 3 min., some subtitles). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "The Way is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to collect the remains of his adult son (played by Emilio Estevez), killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage to honor his son's desire to finish the journey." All of our screenings are followed by a lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability.
