34 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2018 Mixed Media Arts Class Teacher Rob Kelman Five years ago I had never drawn a thing. I was looking for something new to do in my retirement, and I saw Rob Kelman's article about his class in the Breeze. I decided to go once and give it a try. I can't believe five years have passed since that first day in class; I'm still loving it and learning new things every time I go! Rob is an excellent teacher who helps everyone on their journey to becoming an artist. We have a wonderful collection of students in class, working in various media and all at a different point in their artistic development. New students are always welcome. We nurture and support each other, and inspire each other to do great work. It takes a minimal investment in supplies; Rob will help you make a list of what you need, and give you guidance you need to get started. It won't be long before you will have created your first work of art - what an amazing feeling. If you've ever thought that drawing is something you'd like to try, even if you've never drawn a straight line before, come to Rob's class and he will get you started. I also encourage you to come down to The Lodge for the Art Show on Friday, Sept. 14 - you can see what my fellow students have been working on, and you can get first-hand information about classes. I'll look forward to seeing you then! - Micki Rosen Come join us. Classes are Mondays 10 am to 12 and/or Wednesdays 6 pm to 8 pm. Any questions call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman Our September guest speaker will be Leonard Lavyn-Grose, Societe' Director from Europa Village in Temecula. The owners said, "Our wine story began with passion and a vision. We had a vision of bringing together the high standards and values of traditional European wine making with the beauty and richness of one of the most ideal wine growing regions in America — the Temecula Valley Wine Country in Southern California." Leonard is bringing four fantastic wines from their cellars. Please join the Taste d'Vine Wine Club for this great evening. Our meeting will be held Sept. 16 (the third Thursday of the month) in the Ballroom. Doors open at 5:15 pm with the meeting starting at 6 pm. Please bring a favorite wine to share with your table along with an appetizer such as crackers, cheese, fruit, dessert or anything in between along with two glasses for tasting. Members $5, guests $10 and non-resident guests $15.
