FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2018 45 The African American Cultural Club and the Four Seasons Beaumont HOA is hosting its second annual "Jazz and Blues Under the Stars," a free community event featuring the unforgettable, Yve Evans and Company, held at the Amphitheatre on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 pm. Yve Evans is an outstanding singer, songwriter, pianist, actor and entertainer. You may remember her from last year, and good entertainment is definitely worth repeating. This trio of accomplished musicians will perform a timeless repertoire of music consisting of Jazz, Blues, Country Western, R&B, Motown and much more. Did you know that Blues is the foundation of Jazz? This event is a fantastic opportunity to not only hear great music, but also to experience its cultural significance in American history. Bring your blankets, chairs, snacks, and spirits. Join us for a wonderful evening under the stars with great music, storytelling, socializing and dancing. The backpack drive was a total success! Thank you all for your contributions and support. We were able to purchase 85 good quality backpacks in various colors and popular designs and filled them with school supplies. The children living in the cottages at Childhelp® Merv Griffin Village in Beaumont will be going to school looking and feeling special. We were blessed to have a new resident and member of the AACC, Jane Gentry, organize the backpack drive. She has been leading backpack drives at her previous church for the past eight years and it was no coincidence that she was at the meeting when we announced our need for help. The entire event ran smooth as silk. We even had a backpack stuffing party. We feel so proud to live in a community of such wonderful and generous people. The residents at Four Seasons Beaumont are simply the best!
