Summer Bocce Ball is played at The
Summit three times a week — at 9 am
Tuesdays, 5:30 pm Wednesdays and Fridays.
Play is on beautiful tournament grade smooth
accurate courts and sideboards. Easy small
step-in. Smooth concrete surrounds courts.
The word "bocce" comes from Italian word
which is plural, means "to bowl." The small
white ball is thrown first to start game, called
pallino. Rules are very simple, get your ball
as close to the pallino as possible in order
to score a point. If more balls of same color
closest get close, these additionally score
points.
Much like pool, bocce requires players to
take turns. This makes it an ideal game for
socializing in between turns. Often cheers, or
laughter can be heard. No one has an edge in
Bocce Ball unless of course they have played
for years.
We generally play games to 12 points. Two
games are played and take approximately
1-1/2 hours. First court winners stay and
are challenged on second game by winners
from the second court. We mix and match so
no team is expert and change numbers on a
team so no one is left out.
The game of Bocce Ball requires no specific
skills or previous experience. You will get a
little exercise and enjoy a beautiful view and
breezes at The Summit all while having a
great time with a great group of people. If you
are interested in learning the game, please
