| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2018 | 13 Facilities Committee As you may have noticed, the street resurfacing project has begun. The first step was fixing the low and high spots. The tentative start date for applying the new street system of volcanic sand and polymers is Sept. 20. If started on time, the scheduled completion of this project will be the end of October. The work will be done on Mondays and Thursdays (with the exception of Fri., Sept. 28 and Oct. 5), working three areas at a time. Work will start at 7 am and we ask that all residents in the area being seal coated that day must turn off front and rear yard sprinklers at 5 am. This is very important to keep water from mixing with the new asphalt seal so the curing process is not delayed. Landscape Committee The Board of Directors has approved Phase 5 of the Landscape restoration project. The project will start towards the end of October when cooler weather returns. Phase 5 covers World Cup from Four Seasons Blvd. going east and extending through the back gate exit. Four diseased and dying trees are to be removed and 23 trees along both sides of World Cup will be planted which are replacements for trees previously removed that were never replaced. Shrubs of various types will be installed along the south side of World Cup consistent with other plants seen in our community. We will have an artist rendering of the project available during the Market Place event in October at the Landscape booth. Committee members will be present to answer any questions you might have and we look forward to seeing you there. Residents that live in both the East and West Legend's should know that the Landscape Committee is well aware of the need in those two areas for landscape improvements. Little has been done outside of regular maintenance service since those homes were built. While the committee addresses minor landscape complaints from homeowners as we receive them, sufficient funds are not available in the SBA to allow for anything substantial. A lot of the shrubs have aged out, they need to be removed and replaced. Additionally, rock borders need to be added where there currently isn't any. The committee would also like to address the pony walls and add plant material that makes sense to the front of those walls. Without additional funding the committee will have to continue to do patch work which is what we are doing now. The Board of Directors are aware of the lack of funding in the SBA and we are hopeful that they will be addressing the problem. Previously we have covered requests for tree removals in our articles. However, the Landscape Committee continues to get requests for removal where the reason given is a tree(s) is messy. The committee will deny any such request that is received when that is the reason given. Trees are an important part of every community. There are a number of reasons to keep our trees as they create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment. Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into our settings. Trees provide shade and a cooling effect that is sorely needed in our community, especially during our summer heat. The main reason we like trees is because they are both beautiful and majestic. All trees create mess, some more than others. It is hard to even imagine our community without the trees that we have. Many of our trees are now mature, they are trimmed in a manner that provides for the best possible health of our trees. Our trees truly add to the overall beauty of our community for all our homeowners to enjoy. As a homeowner, we all have to do clean up after the droppings from trees. Some of those trees we clean up after are not even on our own property. Winds can carry leaves from neighbor's trees, from the golf course and last but not least our own trees. So enjoy those beautiful messy trees, a little clean up of tree debris is well worth the time that it takes. Once the work starts on your street, the two layer process and striping will be completed that day. Keep in mind that once the new surface is down, there is: • No walking on it for four hours • No driving on it for 24 hours • No watering for 48 hours Please make the arrangements NOW to let your gardeners, contractors and delivery companies know when they can perform their tasks. Look for the email blasts and other notices and keep informed when you will be effected. The success of this project depends on ALL of us. Should you have any questions, call the Lodge office at (951) 325-8188. The Facilities Committee meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 9 am in our Conference Room. All owners in good standing are welcome to attend the meetings and there is an opportunity at the beginning of the meeting for those who wish to speak to the committee. Should you have any suggestions or concerns regarding our community facilities, Resident Communication forms are available at the Lodge front desk.
