Kindness Award: The September 2018 Kindness Award recipient is Andre Lohnert who was nominated by Jerry Hawkins. Andre is a "fine art restorer" who has a doctorate in Art History. Our community had a need for his particular expertise when the picture on the north wall of the Ballroom was in need of significant repair. While staff and residents were agonizing over how they would go about getting the damage fixed, Dr. Lohnert stepped forward and volunteered his expertise - for free. He spent many hours completing the repair and now you cannot find where the damage used to be. On behalf of all the residents at Four Seasons Hemet, Team Sunshine would like to thank and show appreciation to our resident Dr. Andre Lohnert for offering his expertise. His kindness is greatly appreciated. Activities Team: The Activities Team is excited about pre- registration for the Halloween Doggie Parade which is scheduled for Sept. 25 from 9 am to noon in the MPR. We are limiting the number of dogs to 30 (one per family), so please know that those who come first, until that number is filled, will be in the parade. Please ensure that you have your dog's license and shot record available at registration. The parade is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 11 am. Thank you. We hope you have this first-time event on your calendar. Fall Marketplace: Team Sunshine continues to gather items for the Fall Marketplace. We've chosen to feature "White Elephant" items for sale. These will be priced low and we know, from past experience, that folks love to linger over "gems" that have been loved before. Make sure you put Team Sunshine on your list of "must" stops at the Fall Marketplace. Celebrations of Life/Memorials: Our sympathy and condolence to these families: August has been especially difficult for Team Sunshine as we learned of the passing of Mike Murphy (Rawls Dr.); Dan Schwartzer, Cheri Hamilton and Pete Shaver. Mike Murphy was a long-time resident of Four Seasons. He was active in a number of events. We will miss his loving and caring nature and that smile that always seemed to have a little mischief in it. A celebration of life was held on Sept. 23 in the Ballroom for Dan Schwartzer. His beloved wife, Cathy, family and friends gathered to remember this man of many varied interests. Cheri Hamilton was a Team Sunshiner and was active in the Prayer group. Cheri was the administrative person for this group and provided detailed information on those who have requested prayer. A celebration of life was held for Pete Shaver in the Multipurpose Room. His wife, Consuelo, family and friends gathered to remember this very special educator. There may be others in the community who have lost loved ones. We are not always aware of these losses but our sincerest sympathies go out to those in the community who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Team Sunshine "Needs" Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have donated medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). Many thanks for your cooperation. Special Thanks: One of our Sunshiners has been behind the scenes, so to speak, taking our pictures and videos for a long time now. He is a guy who likes to stay in the background but jumps in to help with other tasks as well. We captured him several months ago without his knowledge so we are sneaking his photo in this edition of the Herald. Thank you, Dave Habig, for your expertise and quiet manner. You make us look good (thanks for the Photoshopping) and we so appreciate all you do. Hurrah for our Team Sunshine photographer/ video guy. October Speaker: The Team Sunshine Program for October will be given by Brian Adkins, Special Agent, FBI. The program will be held Wed., Oct. 17 at 3 pm in the Ballroom. He will detail a case presentation involving corruption and fraud at the Veteran Affairs Campus in West Los Angeles. Please invite your friends and family for this interesting presentation. Closing Thoughts: "Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why." - Eddie Cantor, US comedian and singer (1892 - 1964). "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Team Sunshine 22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2018 |
