CLASS, GAME, MEETING SCHEDULES "Don't be Grinched this Holiday Season" was the theme for last month's Neighborhood Watch meeting. Two Beaumont Police Detectives as well as the Steering Committee Members gave suggestions about holiday safety. The suggestions included secure holiday delivery, ways to keep your gifts hidden from the view of thieves, the personal safety of your credit cards and money, etc. Residents were cautioned about becoming involved with suspicious characters in our neighborhood. "We are not vigilantes," said former police officer Mike Corbett. He cautioned that we, as regular citizens, are not trained to handle desperate people who may do us harm. Calling the local police, who are happy to respond, is the safest and best action when residents "see something." Although our motto is "See something, say something," we need to realize that saying something means calling the authorities, those who handle these situations daily and who know what to do. Future meetings are scheduled and will include community awareness topics ranging from the new Beaumont Library acquisitions to the rich, interesting history of Beaumont and Banning. Regular meetings are the second Wednesday of each month with quarterly block captain meetings as well. If your area doesn't have a block captain or one that is inactive, and you would like to help, please call Donna Lewis, Block Captain Leader, (909) 831-9536. ~ Andi Henderson Neighborhood Watch Spanish Class DON'T BE GRINCHED!
