Wow! It's hard to believe that when we hung up our three-year plaque in 2016, that 2019 would come so quickly. We completed our second-to-last tournament of 2018 on Aug. 21. However, summer is a difficult time to have really great attendance for regular play or tournaments, because this is travel time for a lot of the BFFG members. However, we managed to hold a pretty outstanding tournament. First session winner was Mike Fisher. Yep, we had an odd number in the first session, and Mike drew the "ghost" pea, so he played as a one-man "team." Second session had a higher attendance, and the winners of the second session were the team of Johnny Ramirez and David Thomason, who did not have one loss. Thereafter, it was a "best out of three" playoff between the two session teams: Johnny and David prevailed, and Mike came in second place. (See adjacent photos of our tournament winners.) Congratulations to both teams, who prevailed in battle! The Curly Cues again proposed a tournament against the BFFG, which will be held on Oct. 29. We understand the Curly Cues will have a "tiny" advantage in the tournament, but were not given a hint as to what "tiny" means. As a group, the Curly Cues have become so proficient, it should be a pretty exciting match-up. The first year of this match-up, the Curly Cues had three distinct advantages and prevailed for the win. Last year, the BFFG won the tournament, so this year it will be a best-guess scenario. It's always fun, and the BFFG players are always kind and courteous to the ladies. C'mon, dust off those pool cues and come join the Billiards for Fun Group! We meet every Tuesday for two sessions: 11 am to 1 pm or 1 to 3 pm. Also there is an all-community practice on Saturdays in the same time slots. We'd love to have you join us! We double dare you! ~ Eileen Gilbert- Antoine FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2018 49 Attendance continues to grow and our 5 to 8 pm open session has gotten a little busy. Don't worry football fans. We will have the game on during billiards, if you can do two things at once… ha ha. Results of our Sept. 13 quarterly tournament will be posted in the November issue of the Breeze. If you're looking for a fun night out with your spouse this is the group for you. Please contact Leta Ramirez (626) 695-0798 or Pat Semler (714) 325-5280 if you would like more information. We welcome our "newbies" Steve and Laura Albanese, a fun couple and great addition to our group. ~ O'Leta Ramirez It's hard to believe "summer" has come and gone. Many of us have gone on vacation, visited grandchildren, or had them come visit us. We even had a few proud grandmas who brought the children in for us to meet. We have continued to have a good group, although we were just holding one session from 11 am to 1 pm for summer. We will test our 1 to 3 pm session to see what kind of attendance we have and make a decision whether to keep the two sessions or go back to just 11 am to 1 pm. Our quarterly Curly Cue luncheon was held on Sept. 10 at Sizzler in Banning and pictures will be posted in next month's issue of the Breeze. If you're a new resident or have been here for a while you are always welcome to stop by and check us out. We really do have an awesome group of ladies and a lot of laughs. Please contact Leta Ramirez (626) 695-078 or Pat Semler (714) 325-5280 if you would like more information. ~ O'Leta Ramirez Curly Cues Billiards for Fun Cues for two Steve and Laura Albanese Above: First Place Tournament winners David Thomason and Johnny Ramirez Left: Second Place Winner Mike Fisher
