54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2018 Tennis Club August and early September provide some of the most outstanding tennis in the world. It's just not at Four Seasons Beaumont. It's actually at the U.S. Open Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York. While the U.S. Open gets better tennis, our name of The Courts is way better than playing in someplace with "flush" in the name. If that's where they played the Great Britain Wimbledon tournament would it be called Royal Flush? The Tennis Club had a successful August Play Day and BBQ. We have included some photos, which is good, because everybody looks at the pictures, but it is apparent that nobody actually reads the articles (unlike what we said about Playboy). In fact, you're probably not reading this right now. Last month in the Breeze, I asked for readers to share their thoughts about old balls. So far nobody has shared any ideas. Either they're not thinking about old balls or they just prefer not to share what they thought of. What a bunch of chickens! But I still have to write something every month, so this is what you get. And you'll get this drivel for 12 more months because October begins the second year of the two-year terms of office for The Tennis Club Committee members. In the absence of impeachment (ooh, the "I" word!), I have another year to go. The club's annual meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16, so Club members and guests are welcome to register and attend. Advance registration is required, because dinner is included in the meeting. Play Days are open to all residents of Four Seasons Beaumont on the last Saturday of the month starting at 8:30 am. Sometimes there are donuts, but always there's some fun and tennis or fun tennis. ~ Steven Hovey Water Volleyball Water Volleyball meets at The Courts on Mondays 12 to 1 pm, weather permitting — 75 degrees or higher. The water temperature is a comfortable 84 degrees. We play with a light-weight water volleyball, warm-up drills, and then the games are on. Come join the fun! If you'd like to be added to our players list, email babsmiller00@gmail.com. ~ Barbara Miller Ping Pong Have you been told that you need to get out and be more active? Been told that you need to get a workout but the gym just isn't your thing? Ping pong may just be the answer and more. Ping pong will improve your hand-eye coordination, develop mental acuity, improve reflexes, burn calories, improve balance, and is easy on the joints. As an extra added bonus, you can have fun and meet new people. We are a fun group and are always looking for new players. Come on out and join the fun! ~ Tracey Laykoff Working at tennis on Labor Day Play Day players
