It's approximately the 16th of the month and the Breeze goes to the magic world of pre-press where Josh at Faust Media RIPs the file. RIP stands for Raster Image Processing, which means all the parts of the magazine are made printer-friendly — basically flattening the file so it can longer be altered. If you think RIP should stand for Interesting Publication, move ahead! The file Breeze is sent to the printhouse, Sundance Press, in Tucson, Arizona. Yes, Arizona. It's cheaper, faster, and better. Over the course of five days, they print, trim and saddlestitch 2,000 magazines (the quantity has steadily grown as more homes are built) then the magazines are loaded on trucks and returned to California. If you know Arizona's capital, move ahead. Ding dong! It's here! The Breeze arrives safe and sound, ready for you to enjoy. And guess who the winner is? YOU! Congratulations. Now the Editorial Board is preparing to meet and work on NEXT month's issue! (Hint: It's not Tucson.) The Breeze magazines arrive at AMPLS, the direct mailhouse in Anaheim where Julio processes them and gets them labeled (with updated addresses and names provided each month by FirstService). They then carrier-route sort the magazines and put them on a truck and send them to the Beaumont Post Office. Do you know what Elvis liked on peanut butter sandwiches? Move ahead. Bananas. It's almost the end of the month and the Breeze is nearing the end of its journey. Postal carriers load up their bags and head out to deliver the magazine. Sometimes there are hiccups and the Breeze arrives late… lots of things have to work smoothly to get it to you by the first of the month. If you enjoyed this little game, proceed.
