34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2018 | Christmas is fast approaching and we are kicking off the holiday season with our annual holiday party on Sun., Dec. 2 at the South Clubhouse. Cocktails (BYOB) will begin at 5:30 pm with dinner served at 6:30 pm. The menu consists of roast beef tri- tip, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable medley, a green salad and éclairs for dessert. A vegan entrée will also be available. Entertainment will be provided by Tin Man's Heart for your dancing and listening pleasure. It's time to pay your annual club dues - $10 pp or $15 per couple payable by checks ONLY. You can bring your check to the December meeting or deliver it to Sue Dunn's house at 4957 Rio Bravo and place it in her mailbox on the porch. Our next big production is "That's Entertainment" from Feb. 28 - March 3. We are compiling our list of performers, so if you are planning to participate, please contact Sue Dunn at 769-7552 or at alsuedunn@gmail.com. Anyone in Sun Lakes is welcomed to audition for the show and if you're interested in auditioning, we will hold auditions on Thurs., Dec. 4 at 1:45 pm right after our general meeting. All music to be used in the show must be turned in to Gaylord Spence no later than Dec. 14. We also need members who are willing to take on some of the production work. The future of "That's Entertainment" will hinge on members' willingness to do something besides perform. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. If you have any interest in acting, helping backstage, volunteering for other jobs, or are curious about what we do, come join us to see what our club is all about. Join our Facebook group "Sun Lakes Playhouse" for more information as it happens. For membership information, please contact Sue Dunn at 769-7552 or at alsuedunn@gmail.com. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE ONE TO JOIN Hi. I'm the newbie RV Club VP/official article writer, Pam Drummond. My predecessor, Tom Boyle, left big shoes to fill. I hoped to hold a candle to Tom's excellent writing skills, but I ran into two problems: he's faster than me, and the darn candle kept blowing out as I chased him. So please bear with me. CLUB BUSINESS: Our club Christmas Party is Dec. 2 from 5 to 9 pm at the North Clubhouse. $18 pp. Sign up with Sandy Alexanian 381-1292. Instead of a gift exchange, we'll have a donation box for new unwrapped toys for area children in need. Sun., Jan. 13 and 14 is our Home Rally at the South Clubhouse 2 pm. Sign up early December. Feb. 24 - March 1: Pala Casino RV Resort. Rooms available! Sign up early January. April/May TBD Sept. 22 - 27: Zion River RV Resort in Utah. Cabins available! Sign up mid-July. FUN STUFF: Our Pismo Beach trip was a huge success. There were 21 RVs, 41 campers, and five days of food, games and fun. Our tournaments included beanbag baseball, bocce ball, miniature golf, and golf. The onsite restaurant and our wagon masters furnished plenty of tasty food, and the camaraderie couldn't be beat. BLATANT ENTICEMENT: Now that you've heard how fun our RV Club is, why don't you join? FUN FACT: You don't have to own an RV to belong. "What!?" you ask, "How can that be?" 1. Rent an RV for the trips. It's a great way to dip your toe in the water before you buy one. Think about it – you dated your spouse before you married, right? 2. Come to our meetings at Sun Lakes. Once you see how amazing we are and hear about the fun we have, you'll buy an RV in a hot second. BONUS: You'll have plenty of new RV Club friends to give you tips and tricks about your new treasure. 3. Drive over and enjoy the fun activities at nearer RV outings. There's one scheduled Feb. 24-March 1 to Pala Casino & Resort in Temecula, and our Home Rally is at Sun Lakes Jan. 13 & 14. 4. Speaking of Pala – many club outings are places with rooms or cabins to rent onsite or nearby. 5. Several current RV Club members don't own an RV. See? And you thought the new girl was off her rocker. Interested? Have I hooked you? Need more info? Call Sandy Alexanian at 381- 1292.
