26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2018 | Ballroom Dance Players Theater Our audience enjoyed many laughs and tender moments at our Nov. 3 performance of A Gift to Remember. They were also treated to some music from our very own Vintage Voices who played the role of Christmas Carolers. Our 2019 production dates are scheduled for March 2, June 29 and Oct. 5. We already have a script for our March 2 play written by our very own Rudy Rich. It is entitled, Four Seasons Person of the Year with Rudy directing this very comical performance. Look for tickets to go on sale the beginning of February, 2019. We are in very much need of male actors! Remember, there is no memorization as we carry our scripts with us during the performance. We meet every third Friday of the month at 1 pm in the Ballroom unless there is a rehearsal. You can contact me at (951) 599-4626 with any comments or questions. The Players Theater wishes to express its sincere appreciation to our audience, some of which attend most or all of our performances. We want to wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, and hope to see you at our future productions. ~ Chris Pounders, Chair The Ballroom Dance Club is reorganizing to add some flexibility for smaller classes tailored to the knowledge (beginners to intermediate) and interest of those in class, and accommodating availability of both the leaders, Dennis and Sharon, and those in the class. This change is to use an "on demand" format where those interested learning and practicing a particular type of dance contact Dennis and Sharon Uhlken, and all agree on when and where to learn and practice. This can be one person, a couple, or multiple people or couples. The club has no fees, just an interest in Ballroom Dance. Sharon and Dennis enjoy sharing what they know, and also learning new things and practicing with those in the class. We also are going to promote occasional dance parties for practice with music or live bands. Dance types covered include (but are not limited to) Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Nightclub Two-Step, Foxtrot, and Tango. For those wanting a format to practice with a band, Hemet West Mobile Home Estates is the closest. They have a "Wednesday Night Dance" weekly with a live band. The dance is open to non-residents, $6 for the 6:30 to 9:30 pm dance (including the band, popcorn, water, and tea). They have a very large dance floor with tables around the outside and a stage for the band. Equally good is Sierra Dawn Estates, further Southeast in Hemet, which has dances once a month on Saturdays with a live band. Then there are Elks and Moose Lodges in Hemet which also have bands and dancing on Friday nights (and accept non- members). Dancing is one of the best things you can do to keep the brain (and body) working well and hold off Alzheimer's (source, New England Journal of Medicine). For more information on the club and Ballroom Dance lessons and dancing opportunities, contact Dennis Uhlken at (951) 375-7445 (and leave a message).
