My goodness, it is hard to believe that when you receive this issue, November will have come and gone and the 2018 holiday season festivities are well underway. Your Holiday Decorating Committee and many other volunteers will be actively engaged in their annual labors of love converting our normally gorgeous Lodge facility into an even more elegant environment adorned with all the Christmas season décor. This is the time of year that we manage to put aside petty differences and renew our commitments to our fellow human beings. We love the almost magical transformation our neighborhoods undergo, and we revel in how they have been enhanced by all the holiday decorations. Between the planned community events and sundry other social activities, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by it all. This can easily cause us to feel stressed and anxious. So, we urge you to take a deep breath, appreciate the beauty which surrounds us. Enjoy the warmth of love and friendship that abounds. Revel in the opportunities to spend time with loved ones and create new memories that will last a lifetime. Walk or drive around our lovely Four Seasons community and take in all the beauty that so many have contributed to over the years. Appreciate the company of your friends and neighbors while socializing in all the assorted gatherings and parties that take place. Participate in, or come out and watch the parade of creatively decorated golf carts as they pass through your neighborhood. Attend the fabulous performances of our talented singers and entertainers who live within our community. Also, don't forget to support the benevolent projects organized to support our military families and those less fortunate who are in need. Yes, indeed, this is a wonderful time of year! In addition to our abundant annual activities, this has been quite a year of major projects. The Access Control Committee completed the transition from our antiquated transponders to the new RFID vehicle access system. The Facilities Committee oversaw the design and construction of a brand-new storage building which resulted in additional floor space being available within our Ballroom. A community-wide paving project was finally completed which should provide us with many years of maintenance free roadways. Your Board of Directors established formalized Mission, Vision and Values Statements which will serve as a road map for our future. We also made significant progress on developing a long-range strategic plan, and initiated the systematic review and update of all of our governing documents. Our Landscape Committee oversaw the restoration and embellishment of landscaped areas along our major streets and common areas. And, not to be overlooked, are all the other accomplishments of standing and ad hoc committees that work hard all year long to provide us with activities and resources to enjoy. It is truly remarkable that all this has been accomplished primarily through volunteer work of people who are over 55 years of age and, by rights, should be relaxing and enjoying their "golden years!" Yes, we are indeed blessed to reside in such a beautiful place that is further enriched by the people who comprise our community. We urge you to embrace this opportunity to pause, reflect and enjoy all that is good in your life today. Remember, today we create tomorrow's memories, so enjoy every moment and be sure to make them ones to cherish! On that note we send our very best wishes to you and yours for a very Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah! Message from the Board of Directors Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Ken Pounders, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Jim Crase, and Greg Rockvam, Russ Brown President 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2018 |
