Ad Hoc Water Management In 2012 we consumed 6.9 percent more water for landscaping than in 2011. The cost of our water for the year was up 22.5 percent due to increases in the cost of water and power to pump and deliver it. The increases were a result of our rainfall during the year being slightly lower, particularly in the early fall and the increase in areas to be watered. During 2009 and 2010 the Social Committee As I sit here typing this article New Years' Day, having left my couch potato position only long enough to do so, I wonder why. Why do I do it? I, along with seven other ladies from the Social Committee and some friends, spent a total of 18 hours getting the Ballroom ready for the New Years' Eve event. And why? Well, let me tell you. It was to give the really great party that we had. Over 160 people welcomed the New Year with good food, good music and good friends. Many thanks to Tony Zamboni for the great job he did with the games, the lighting and playing the music our dancers wanted to hear. I don't think there was ever a time the dance floor wasn't full of people enjoying them. He did a really fine job. Rosa Galarza and her friend Shane Litchfield sang several selections from the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" and held our residents and their guests spellbound. Rosa and her husband are residents of Four Seasons and it is a pleasure to have them in our community. Shane, a last minute replacement for the original singer gave up part of his New Years' Eve and did an outstanding job, with only one day of practice with Rosa. There is not enough words of thanks for the pleasure they gave us. Let me not forget Smitty and the Bistro who did a very fine job with our elegant buffet. This is the first time we have had a buffet for New Years' Eve and I believe it went very well. They also provided us with an extensive salad bar that was also well received. Another person we need to thank is Abby Cameron who made the large phantom mask that hung in the front of the Rules & Regulations The second set of ballots for the CC&R amendment has been mailed and you should have received your ballot. At this time we have received 739 ballots. By the time you read this, the ballots will have been counted. You can find out the results by contacting the Lodge office. The "Voting Thermometers" have been returned to the vendor and the contract canceled due to non-performance. A 18 builder transferred only small areas to the Association due to the weak economy. In 2011 the transfers increased and in 2013 they will be significant. Our hope is to maintain water consumption to a small increase with conservation efforts. The water testing on Crooked Creek showed that with a drip system the ground cover used 11 percent less water than the sprinkler system. ~ Len Tavernetti Bistro Committee Ballroom. In addition, Pam Mayoral who made the candies for our special cupcakes, did a wonderful job. The Social Committee and sub-committees work really hard to bring these events to you and they deserve a special thank you. I can't name all who helped, mainly because I can't remember all of them but they know who they are and you have my deep appreciation for all they did. Several members of the Bistro committee and their spouses and friends stayed to help us clean up after the party was over and they were a big, big help. I was home and in bed by 2 am which was a first. A huge thank you to all of you. A final thank you to Cindy who without her help and support the evening would not have happened. Renee was also as big help during the evening. For those of you who did not attend, I am sorry you missed a great party but maybe we will see you next year… although I am not sure how we are going to top the party of 2012. Now we're looking ahead to Mardi Gras! Join us for this great celebration on March 9. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the event begins at 6 pm. Tickets go on sale Feb. 5, at $20 pp. Get your tickets early as they go fast. The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 2. ~ Melody Seewoster At our December meeting, we reviewed the progress of work to install a walk-in refrigerator in the Bistro. It is possible that the Bistro may be closed for several days to accomplish the work. Our newest member of the Bistro Committee, Cheryl Burke, was welcomed. The committee is now seven strong. We will be represented on the Ad Hoc Committee studying the future use of the North building that was the K. Hovanian Sales Office. When the Bistro dining area is full, the first section of the Ballroom may be used for dining, only if it is not being used or has been set-up for an event. Our next meeting is Feb. 26, at 11 am, in the Lodge Conference Room. All homeowners are invited to attend. ~ William Taylor new vendor will be contacted and given the contract. The "Car Cover Rules" have been adopted. The "Golf Cart Rules" were sent out for public comment. Final approval will be completed at the January Board of Directors meeting. You are invited to attend our meetings. They are held on the third Thursday of every month at 9 am in the Lodge conference room. ~ Ron Morgan FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2013 | community News Community News | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2013 19
