By Cindy Graves Oh my gosh, we're already on a major roll for February and March! To start the month and in keeping with many of our New Year's resolutions, Priscilla Robles will be holding a "Heart and Soul" Boot Camp on Saturday, Feb. 2. This will get us up on our feet and dancing, while we learn some new steps and burn off extra calories. Call Priscilla for more information at (951) 922-0755. The next music and dance event is "R&B Meets Country." This is a free evening of Country and R&B performances from residents in our community, and dancing with audience participation. Please bring your dancing shoes and your favorite beverage. You're also welcome to bring in your purchased dinner from Smitty's. This event is on Feb. 16 at 6:30 pm in the Ballroom. All are welcome. Don't forget about the great Film Making Workshop I told you about last month, presented in our Ballroom on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn from a wonderful film company called "Smart Dog Film." Randy Lintecum, producer, is a retired executive who decided to launch a new career in film making. He will show you the ropes and help you understand the ins and outs of independent film making. To start the event, we will be showing his beautiful film, "To Love Again" during our Friday movie times on Feb. 22, in the Lodge Theater. Randy will be explaining how various parts of the movie were made, so if you plan on going to the workshop, a Friday movie would serve you well. If you're not planning on going to the Film Making Workshop, you'll certainly enjoy this inspiring film taken from a true life story. The previously planned "Formal Classical Piano Concert" has been postponed until Friday, Nov. 1. We will, however, have a "Light Hearted Piano Concert," on Friday, March 1, at 6 pm, showcasing the amazing talent of celebrity pianist and musical genius, Dr. John Granet (he's too humble to say he's a genius, but everyone who is familiar with his musical accomplishments would agree). John is an internationallyrenowned concert pianist and composer for all instruments. To make his gifts even more astounding, he happens to be blind. It's an incredible privilege to have him make time for our community, so I hope you don't miss this opportunity. We will be including some fabulous resident pianists in this concert as well, and they will have you toe-tapping and bouncing in your seats throughout the evening. This is a no cost event, and all are welcome. Mardi Gras time is upon us again and the Social Committee will be putting together a bauble and bead filled evening with all of the traditional sounds and flavors of the Mardi-Gras in New Orleans. Wear costume or come casual, but come hungry and ready to follow the decorated float in celebration and dance the night away. Tickets go on sale at the Lodge desk on Feb. 5 for only $20 per ticket (includes dinner) and the event is on Saturday, March 9 at 6 pm. The last day to purchase tickets is Saturday, March 2. Have a wonderful February and Happy Valentines Day! I look forward to seeing you around the Lodge! s s s s Remember to check the calendar for upcoming District Delegate election dates. Ballots for the District Delegate election need to be returned in the envelopes received and please sign the outside of the green envelope. It is necessary to receive more than 50 percent of the ballots from each district to meet the quorum requirements; otherwise, an adjourned meeting must be held. Your participation is appreciated. Film Screening Feb. 22 One Sunday afternoon, Larry Anderson, an ex-Army Ranger, suddenly loses his wife in a tragic automobile accident. Larry struggles to find purpose in his life but falls into loneliness and despair. Connected only through Providence, Larry stumbles into Sue Smith, a divorced single woman desperately looking for stability in her life. As these two lives are woven together their ultimate meeting is not what either of them expected. When Larry decides to take one last sky dive, he finds himself alone at 4,000 feet with only seconds to make a life changing decision. A story of faith, hope and love.
