Safety & Facilities The Safety and Facilities Committee met on Jan. 4. There was an Emergency Preparedness briefing from Anita Worthen on the Safety Fair and a briefing from Larry Savaglio on water management programs and cost drafts. There was a briefing by Dennis Gray on neighborhood watch ongoing community programs. Renee Watkins briefed us about the Bistro chairs and Card Room table repairs as well as the change of vendor. The Aerobics Room flooring samples were shown. The air conditioning bid is transferred to the Board of Directors for action. There is a continuing review for an outdoor shower for the pool area. There was a review of storage needs at and about the Lodge. There is a review for action on handicap parking at the Lodge. There is ongoing and review of needed markings of Paddle Ball and Pickle Ball courts. There was a review for action to install bird spikes at the Lodge. Lisa Lynn related the key fobs were in good working order and on line. The phase C painting projects are progressing. There is a need for us to meet at a later date and time to review the reserve study line items. The next meeting of the Safety and Facilities Committee is Feb. 5, at 9 am at the Lodge. ~ Dennis Gray Finance Committee At our December meeting, we welcomed our newest member, Claudeen Diaz. This brings the Finance Committee to a full seven member committee. The Financial Statements for November 2012 were reviewed and reflected the following significant items: Net income year-todate was $189,070 and total reserves were $3,220,477. The accounts receivable (delinquencies) was $80,949. Our total HOA expenses for November (excluding reserve allocations) were $146,229. This was under budget by $69,386. There was one CD renewal to be reviewed. The Front Yard Cost Center expenses for November 2012 were over the monthly budget by $513. There was one vendor proposal presented for approval. Bob Melville, AD Hoc Water Management Committee member, reported water consumption for the year was up two percent over last year with the bills being up by 15 percent. This year was drier than last and the water rates have been increased dramatically. Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be Feb. 26, at 1 pm in the Lodge Conference Room. All homeowners are encouraged to attend. ~ Noel Myers Architectural Review New and established homeowners, please remember any exterior modification, revision or improvement to your property may need approval from the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). Some examples are walkways, planters, patios, patio covers, satellite dishes, screen doors, front entry doors, plants in your front and rear yard, especially trees. When in doubt, speak to Frances Farrar at the Lodge Office. Applications for improvement submittal to ARC are also available at the Lodge Office. Applications must be submitted prior to noon Monday, preceding the meeting for consideration that week. We are comprised of seven homeowners including BOD Liaison Wayne Staples and Lisa Lynn of Euclid Management. The committee meets on the Feb. 6 and 20, at 9:30 am. During the meetings each month we review applications from the homeowners for compliance and discuss possible remedies to issues that may not be covered presently in the rules or guidelines. Yes, rules and guidelines. If you are unable to locate these guidelines that were provided with your home purchase, you can request a copy at the Lodge office. Outside of the meetings, we visit the homes of applicants that have completed the work. This is to verify the modification is the same as the submitted approved plan. You are welcome to attend one of our meetings to see how the process works. ~ Ron Burke Landscape Committee Our next meeting will be Feb. 11, 9 am, in the Board Conference Room. There are openings on the Landscape Committee and interested homeowners are encouraged to attend meetings to learn what the committee does and join in serving the Association.
