Ceramic Corner Creative Drawing & Sketching Class Welcome 2013! There are quite a few new projects in the works for Ceramics Class on Wednesdays at 1 pm. Valentine's Day and Easter are just around the corner and there are samples of a hand-cast heart for your front door, and a heart box, heart plate, and Easter basket with eggs done in crystal glazes. Also, we will be learning how to hand cast pillow vases for your flower buds or plant clippings. Drop by the Craft Room to check out samples of some of the items you can create, or join us on Wednesdays and check out what students are making. Instructor: Pamela Mayoral (951) 897-1922. ~ Pamela Mayoral Camera Club We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Craft Room at the Lodge. Our February meeting will be Feb. 19. This group is for all levels, beginners and pros alike, and members are always eager to help and teach. Each month, we have an assignment to take and bring in a photograph of a different genre. We encourage you to attend even if you decide not to bring a picture. We have a lot of fun including photo outings, guest speakers, shows of work, and general sharing of ideas. We will be discussing other events and outings throughout the year and are looking forward to participating in the "Corks and Canvas" event in April. The chairperson of our club, George Johnson, will be teaching a beginners digital camera class. It will consist of two sessions; the first session will be on March 4 and the second, on March 11, at 6 pm in the Craft Room. If you have a digital camera and wonder what JPEG and RAW are, what ISO you should use and when and why, what white balance and IS are all about, this is the time and Knitting & Crocheting As previously reported, our VA project was completed and we were informed by Anita Worthen, that all lap throws were distributed and greatly appreciated by all who received them. It is likely that we will do this again for 2013, as they are always needed by the hospital. Our holiday luncheon at Melvyn's in Palm Springs was great fun and enjoyed by all. We ended up with 11 people due to some cancellations. We drove through the rain to get to a lovely, sunny Palm Springs and the lunch was terrific. Once again our group meets on Tuesdays at 10 am. If you are interested, please come join us. Info., Dorothy, (951) 572-5436. ~ Dorothy Payne 26 place to find out. Many other mysteries explained as well. Bring your camera to the first class. There are two classes available for drawing and sketching: Monday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon, and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm in the Crafts Room in the Lodge. The Monday classes are designed to be for a specific semester and the Wednesday classes are ongoing throughout the year. The Mondays class schedule for 2013 is Jan. - March 18 (first term), May 20 - July 22 (second term) and Oct. 7 - Dec. 9 (third term). The Wednesday evening classes typically have the more advanced students, many who have begun to work with colored pencils in addition to graphite. A student may attend any of the classes or just one. It is strongly recommended that new students attend the first class of a new semester on a Monday morning before deciding which class day they prefer. It is there that you will get to learn the supplies that you will need and honestly, the first class is lots of fun! The class is led by Rob Kelman, (951) 992-9156, email, rbkdesigns@verizon.net. Please call or email any questions that you have. The class is free! You provide supplies which will be discussed in the first class. Just bring a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil for taking notes. It doesn't matter if you have never drawn before, you drew years ago, or you are an accomplished artist. The classes typically have a mix of all three. Each student works from a black and white photo of their choosing, at their own pace. This class is about individuality.
