Growing old is not for sissies The Visiting Nurse Association of California's Biokinesologist, Carin Shuler, will be speaking on Senior Wellness at the Sun Lakes Health Seminar on Fri., Feb. 8, at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Carin is the Physical Therapy Director for VNACA and also sits on the board of the USC's School of Biokinesology. She has many tips and educational tools to share on how to be active and keep your body's health at it's best. The Recreation Department is working with Interact Productions to host another Game Show Night! Last year we had Family Feud where residents got to make their own families and compete against others. We are still in the developing stage of this exciting night, so please go to the Main Clubhouse for a flyer with all of the details. Sat., March 16, 9 am – 2 pm, doors open at 9 am. It's time for our Spring Craft Show! Sun Lakes residents will have a variety of homemade crafts and goodies for sale. Crafts include jewelry, wood working, paintings, clothes, knitted items, and more! This event is FREE to enter and door prizes will be given out to the first 100 people! For crafters that are interested in selling items, a table costs $6 pp. Sign ups begin Feb. 4, at 8:30 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. If any of these topics interest you, please stop by the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room to watch the presentation on the dates listed below from 12:30 to 1 pm. The seminar is FREE to residents. Do you have certain fitness goals you would like to attain? Join us for an evening of jazz with the "JazzMasters." They are a 4 piece group with piano, bass, drums, horn, and vocals. They play a variety of Latin and American jazz with standards, swing, and 60s and 70s pop tunes. We will open the doors at 5:30 pm for a cocktail hour and easy listening. Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm, and then you are welcome to dance the night away or just sit and enjoy the wonderful sound until 9 pm. Dinner includes, salad, rolls, choice of manicotti or chicken and mushroom pasta, coffee/ice tea/water. Tickets are $17 pp. The lottery is Feb. 11 - 17. Grab a registration sheet from the receptionist and fill it out for all the people at your table and drop it in the box. There is a maximum of four people to a check. For tables of eight or nine, bring all of checks in at one time to attach to form.
