| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2018 | 3 President's Message By Tom Murphy This week, while working on the President's Message, I am reminded of two appropriate quotations regarding productivity. The first comes from my mom, Bonnie Jean Murphy, a wise Celtic lass. I HATED peas, and she would say to me, "eat your peas first, then look forward to the rest of your dinner." Even today, I'm known for "eating my peas first" … then, the rest is easy. Mark Twain put it a different way when he said, "Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen the rest of the day!" "Peas and frogs" signify one's biggest, most important tasks. The key to productivity is tackling the most difficult chores first. This has been a very productive month for your Master Board, which shows a desire to get things done. A Special Executive Session was held on Oct. 26 to discuss the following Third-Party Contract: 1) Approval for Stehly Brothers Drilling to drill the test well, not to exceed 10 percent of the overall contract of $41,150. We met on Nov. 15, in Executive Session, to discuss the following: 1) Third Party Contracts 2) Delinquency Review 3) Citation Review 4) Personnel Our new Treasurer, Greg Kusiak, has hit the ground running so far, he has reviewed past and present financials and formed a new Executive Committee, the Budget/Finance Committee. The following list contains many agenda items. For additional, please refer to the Regular Meeting Highlights in this month's OHCC Living (page 8) issue. The Master Board is bringing forth a new professionalism by adopting the newly revised Robert's Rules of Order as our standard. A new Ad Hoc Lanai Committee was appointed to study the form, function, and viability of this project. The Committee is composed of four general contractors, John Misterly, Dick Bollaert, Bob Fisher, Tom Murphy, as well as Treasurer Greg Kusiak, Vice President Linda Strohm, and Don Lopez. A Pet Lovers' Club sponsored event with the San Diego Humane Society, was approved and will take place in early 2019 in the overflow parking lot. The Board approved a modification to the Wind Goddess area and the Front Gate Entry. Approval was given to replant five slope areas along Leisure Village Way. The Board approved obtaining additional bids for the trailhead landscaping at Inspiration Hill. New members were appointed to the Budget & Advisory Committee: Kevin Cryan and John Lesser. This is another example of mining the experience gold in our community. We are moving ahead with the Clubhouse remodel as the Board approved soliciting three bids for each of the involved trades. Advanced Reserve Solutions was approved for an onsite visit for our 2019-2020 Reserve Study. The updated Rules and Regulations were approved to be sent out to all homeowners for a 30-day review and comment period. Be sure to check out the Woodchucks display at the Clubhouse of wooden toys for the children of enlisted families at Camp Pendleton. We hope that you will join us by donating gift cards or toys, as we serve those who so bravely serve us. I close with thanks to our many volunteers who make OHCC a great place to live. Newsflash: Our test water well has hit an abundance of water. The Board approved continued, deeper drilling to increase the potential. Oh … and, Kermit … that "eat the frog" comment did not mean you! Have a joyous December with your families!
