Stretch & Balance | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2018 | 49 Swim & Wellness Happy holidays! Here is a look at our year in review. The Swim & Wellness Club Board has agreed to serve for another year. Joanne Greene, President; Robin Ryan, Vice President; Mary McGhee, Secretary and Bob Clarke, Treasurer were unanimously re- elected at our fall meeting. We have enjoyed educational speakers at all of our meetings this year. Dr. Jamie Corroon founder and Medical Director of the Center for Medical Cannabis has been our featured speaker twice. Rene Myest, lifelong fitness coach, swimming instructor and our Friday morning aqua aerobics instructor is a fascinating speaker and Louise Maganelli shared her wealth of expertise on nutrition and aging at our summer meeting. Aqua fitness classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 9 am and Fridays at 9:30 am continue to be a huge success through our mild winters. Remember the pool is a lovely 84 degrees year round. The Swim Clinic is a long-standing Swim Club tradition. The Clinic is offered for six weeks starting in June. The four basic strokes including proper breathing and water safety are emphasized. Thanks again to resident instructors: Ken Krueger, Frank Tanner, Sue Tanner, and Robin Ryan. Lia Mei Strauss arranged for the Swim & Wellness Club to sponsor Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage series. Watch for this popular lecture series to continue into 2019. Thanks again to Carol Clarke for developing and maintaining the Personal Activity Log located in the cabinet by the outside shower. All regular swimmers are encouraged to log your laps, distance, time, whatever works for you and keeps you moving! The Holiday Brunch was wonderful with plenty of fine comfort food and good times. La Don Jones is a delightful entertainer, and we all got a chance to join him for Sweet Caroline. The caterer served up an amazing buffet while we welcomed in the holiday season! The holidays are an ideal time to give yourself the gift of wellness. Maintain your workout and possibly expand it. Choose your food and drink carefully. Stay happy, healthy, and safe. See you at the pool rain or shine!
