FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2019 13 By Len Tavernetti If all goes according to plan, 2019 will be the year of build out. K. Hovnanian Homes plans for their final sale in October and the last new-home homeowners should move in before year's end. This is a significant milestone in the development of Four Seasons Beaumont. We will not only be in charge of our own budget, but responsible for all interactions with our city and county governments. The final version of the Specific Plan will be drafted, if not already completed, and signed off by the builder and the city. It will include the disposition of the infamous 26- unit parcel on Potrero Boulevard. As we assume complete control of the Conservancy, ownership and maintenance responsibility may or may not be resolved. The Army Corps of Engineers must approve this transfer and, as of this writing, the paperwork is still being finalized with a couple of issues unresolved. Nevertheless, sometime in 2020 we will definitely be funding maintenance of the trails and trees in this habitat. The Community Planning and Transition Committee will focus in 2019 on identifying a master "punch list" of actions the builder must take to close out their departure. All our committees will be asked to contribute to this list and we need each committee to add members for this endeavor. Of prime importance during 2019 will be filling two additional positions to the Board in addition to the election of one Board member in April. With KHOV's departure their two seats will be staffed by residents. The demanding work of leading a community of 2,500+ residents with 1848 houses and an $8 million budget can not be overstated. Community involvement to maintain our investment and quality of life demands the time and effort of our homeowners. Many of us are living a well-deserved retirement, away from the pressures of commuting and meeting deadlines, yet we all need to pitch in. Control of our own destiny started under Jacque Sneddon's leadership, setting a high mark for community service. It has continued to develop but really needs the experience, skill sets, and mature understanding of our senior residents as we cut loose from the Mother Ship. Cutting The Cord From Builders Winter Wish Enjoys Another Successful Year By Pam Dopf Winter Wish is a local program that began 29 years ago, helping one family of a Beaumont Unified School District student living in their car. In 2018, 188 families with 583 children were assisted! The program was founded by the Beaumont Soroptimists and is still under their financial umbrella. Over the years, other service clubs, churches, businesses, senior communities, and other local residents have joined in to make Winter Wish even more successful. Your Four Seasons community has played a major role each year. Endless gift tags were chosen, lovingly shopped for, wrapped and returned. As more tags were received during November, you stepped forward once again and helped to fulfill those wishes as well. Your generosity is never-ending and so appreciated. Thanks to your donations, food purchases were augmented and we were able to give each family three bags of groceries. Parents were so very appreciative for this extra help during the holiday season. We value our partnership with each and every one of you who participated and look forward to working with you again during Winter Wish 2019.
