FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2019 9 Being a CVP has been interesting, exciting, and a great learning experience for Christina. She is very grateful to all the Beaumont Police officers and staff. "They are incredible in how they protect and serve this city. I plan to continue this for some time." Besides her volunteer work, Christina loves to hike the great trails here in Four Seasons. She loves to travel and Skype with family. As rewarding as being a police volunteer is, there are other opportunities to serve our city. Christina's husband, Ken, is an excellent example of this. He volunteers at City Hall. Ken Gomer enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam era in 1966, serving with the Strategic Air Command. After serving his country, in 1970 he worked during the day and began going to school at night studying towards a business degree. In 1982, Ken started a career in the credit reporting industry with TRW Credit, Dun & Bradstreet, and Equifax Credit. After 28 years, he retired from sales executive management. Ken had another life when he turned a hobby into a profession and joined the Professional Bowlers Association, but he had to give that up to concentrate on his business career. After retiring in 2010, Ken started volunteering with the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, serving his fellow veterans. In 2014, Ken joined the Beaumont City Planning Department as a volunteer. His current duties include data entry for business permits, organizing new commercial and residential blueprints, labeling files, and other projects needing support. Ken finds his volunteer work a rewarding way to keep his mind active and still learn the ways other people function. You can be a CVP too. Our primary mission is to be a presence in the community. You may see us driving around Beaumont in a volunteer patrol car. We're there to reassure people that the police department is looking out for them. And that is indeed what we do. Feel free to contact me at steve.benoff@verizon.net if you have an interest in being a CVP. Linda Ruoff Christina Gomer Steve Benoff
