36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2019 | HAPPY NEW YEAR! Beginning this month we will have an additional support group meeting on the fourth Monday of each month. Our meetings for January will be on Thurs., Jan. 24 and Mon., Jan. 28. Both meetings will be at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. You are invited to attend as many meetings each month as you can fit into your schedule. There will be no caregiving meeting in the Arts and Craft Room during the Monday meeting and support group. We will continue to offer caregiving at the Thursday meetings. We are here to support and educate you. Take advantage of all we offer. If you attend the Thursday meeting, drop your loved one off in the Arts and Craft Room for an hour of live entertainment, exercise, fun and games. All of the volunteers caring for your loved one have experience dealing with Alzheimer's and Dementia patients. Once again Ed Avina will be entertaining our group in the Arts and Craft Room. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130, Doug 360-840-5559 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Memory Care Group HAPPY NEW YEAR! Beginning this month, we will be back in the South Clubhouse with just a few exceptions! Yay! Our members have expressed a huge preference for that location and we have many members who will rejoin us once we're meeting there again. So here's to a wonderful 2019 for all! We had some changes in December which we announced at our December Holiday gathering. Much to our chagrin, Jeff Burris had retired earlier in the year as our Board Secretary and we announced Wendy Shanton as his replacement. Wendy has attended with her father, Glen Shanton, and often stepped in to help volunteer. You are a welcome addition to the Board, Wendie. In December we announced that our long time Treasurer, Sandee Neal, was stepping down as an officer on the board. We so appreciate Sandee's contributions to the club in this capacity and we're hoping she continues on as a volunteer. Her replacement as Treasurer, Donna Harrington, was introduced and announced. A warm welcome Donna! For dropping off checks to Donna, her address is 5393 Riviera. The temporary phone number to use is Diane Aarhus's at 797-3676. Another change which was required in order for us to go back to the South Clubhouse is our meeting dates. We will now be getting together on the third Saturdays of the month instead of the second. So January's gathering will be Jan. 19 back at the South Clubhouse. Please have your reservations in by the first Sat., Jan. 5. For November, our entertainment was absolutely one of our favorite regulars, Ray Renden. His smooth sounds were enjoyed by all as he shared many old sentimental favorites like You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You, It Had To Be You, Blue Bayou and then finished with all the armed services theme songs and You're A Grand Old Flag. It was a wonderful Veterans month tribute. Thank you, Ray, we all appreciate you. Again, remember the next gathering is Jan. 19 at the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. We need your reservations and checks in by the first Saturday which is Jan. 5 for the necessary head count for catering. You can drop the checks off to Donna Harrington at 5393 Riviera or use the temporary phone number of 797-3676. Spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend as well. Many members bring along their visiting children or other out of town visiting guests. We make everybody feel welcome.
