| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2019 | 61 Friends we will miss Don Richter passed away October 18, 2018. My father-in-law, Don Richter and his wife LaVerne Richter moved to Sun Lakes approximately 28 years ago and enjoyed living on the golf course. They were very active and loved to entertain. They would have a once a year lasagna party which started one night and ended being three nights in a row due to the many friends they had. Dad Don, played golf three days a week until he was 90 and then had to play the smaller course. Don and LaVerne loved to camp and they also traveled a lot with the RV Club in Sun Lakes. Dad loved to dance and I'm sure danced a lot at the country club. Our last night there, my girls and grandchildren danced our last dance there. He loved his grandchildren and wanted to spend as much time with them as he could when he had that chance. Dad also loved his church and was very devoted. Don and LaVerne were members of the Beaumont Presbyterian church. I'm sure they are enjoying a cocktail every night together now. Don has two children living, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two step-great grandsons. We will miss dad, the nicest person you would want to know! Greta Myra Rothenbuhler was born on May 29, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Paul Pember and Gertrude Schildbach. Greta peacefully returned to her eternal home on October 16, 2018 at the age of 86 in Banning, California. At the age of three, Greta moved with her parents to Riverside, CA. Great enjoyed her school years in Riverside and she would say her favorite class was recess. She was a tomboy and liked to play "war" and look at the bomber planes flying to March Air Force Base during WWII. Greta was an only child. At the age of 21 Greta married Richard Gene Carter and they moved to Torrance and raised two daughters, Sandra and Paula. Greta loved her work as a school secretary at First Lutheran School in Torrance. Her daughter Sandra married and had two girls, Ashley and Brittany. Paula married and had a son, Andrew. Greta's husband passed away in 1988 and after that she decided to move to Sun Lakes Country Club to be closer to her granddaughters who lived in Cherry Valley. Greta loved to spend time spoiling them and took many pictures of Ashley and Brittany. Her grandson Andrew lived in Carlsbad. Greta loved going down to visit him while he was growing up. Greta joined the Social Singles Club at Sun Lakes and met William (Bill) Rothenbuhler there on April 1, 1995. He popped the question and they were married on Sept. 30, 1995. Bill's wife passed in 1991 and Bill had two daughters, Julie and Linda and two granddaughters, Nicole and Amy. Together they built a life that included both families, friends, traveling, Old Car Clubs and enjoying a good time. Greta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (Nathan, Kaiden, Avery and Kearstin). The Lord was very important in her life as she enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir and bible study. She was very loved and touched many hearts during her life. May she rest in peace with the Lord. Greta was buried with her first husband, Richard Carter, a WWII Veteran, at the Riverside National Cemetery. A reception followed at the Bill Rothenbuhler home.
