For many of us the new year can be a fresh start with the promise of optimism for better things to come. Many of us also want to put the past behind us, yet others love to dwell on the past as we yearn for the good old days. You may ask yourself, "What does all this have to do with Karaoke?" Well… the options of songs in a Karaoke show can reach way back to many bygone eras as well as leap into the future of hits to come. It all depends on who picks the songs to be sung. At the close of 2018 some of the newer songs that were finding their way to our Karaoke shows were Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton and Girl Crush by Little Big Town not to mention dance songs like Uptown Funk and The Cupid Shuffle. At Goodtimes Karaoke with Rosie Ingalls, Barb Miller & D.J. Blast you can discover new songs to sing as well as trying your hand at the tried and true hit songs. Yes we will probably always be comfortable with our favorite oldies like Crazy by Patsy Cline and My Way by Frank Sinatra but it can be surprising who will sing these songs next and possibly sing them better than the last person. You may be that person who brings the house down with a favorite of your own. Why not mark your calender for the next Karaoke date with Barb,Rosie & D.J. Blast. On Sat., Jan. 19, Goodtimes Karaoke will be in the South Clubhouse from 5:30 to 9 pm and as usual we will keep a mic on for you. Karaoke Group Chorale The Chorale of Sun Lakes ended 2018 with a wonderful Holiday Concert Series. After a hiatus for the holidays, our eager group of singers will hold its first rehearsal for the spring season on Mon., Jan. 21. Registration will begin at 8:30 am in the Multipurpose Room, followed by our rehearsal from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Registration costs $25 for the season, which will culminate in our Spring Concert Series in early May. If you love to sing in church, in the shower, in the car, or anywhere, please join us! We display our cars at 8 am in the Main Clubhouse parking lot, and then meet briefly in the Multipurpose Room at 8:30 am. During the meeting, we plan group trips to various venues, and report on car shows many of us have attended or plan to attend. After the meeting, we go out for breakfast to enjoy each other's company. Please join us on Sat., Jan. 5. We always welcome new members to our group. There are no dues, just friendship, outings, and laughter. You don't even need a classic car to be a part of this happy group!
