| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2019 | 13 Emergency Planning committee From Ready.Gov https://www.ready.gov/power-outages Power Outages: Extended power outages may impact the whole community and the economy. A power outage is when the electrical power goes out unexpectedly. A power outage may: • Disrupt communications, water, and transportation. • Close retail businesses, grocery stores, gas stations, ATMs, banks, and other services. • Cause food spoilage and water contamination. • Prevent use of medical devices. Protect Yourself During A Power Outage: • Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. • Only use generators outdoors and away from windows. • Do not use a gas stove to heat your home. • Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges. • Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices. • If safe, go to an alternate location for heat or cooling. • Check on neighbors. • If you are able, join with us to help you and our community survive an emergency situations. Landscape Committee Happy New Year! With 2019 just around the corner, its time to start preparing your landscape to look its best when spring arrives. January and February you can knock out some simple yard work beyond taking down the decorations you put up for the holiday season. If trees haven't been pruned/trimmed, now is a great time to prune out weak branches. It is also an ideal time to prune flowering trees for shape. In addition you can trim fruit-bearing plants to encourage new growth and fruit production. It is always advisable to use a professional unless you have the skill to properly prune. Mulch can help provide a blanket to hold moisture in the soil and insulate when it is spread to two to three inches deep. Walking around the community early this morning it was simply amazing with rain in the forecast, seeing the number of homes where irrigation was on or had been on during the night. This time of year there is no need for daily irrigation. Save the expense and save the water for when the weather warms and it will be needed again. A few people actually turn their irrigation off for the cold season and that is commendable. At times, pulling a hose out to spray flower beds may be needed, especially if new plants have been installed. The Landscape Committee is looking forward to 2019 and wish all of our residents a heathy and safe 2019. Facilities Committee The Street Resurfacing Project is mostly complete. Thank you for your patience during this major project. The volunteers who were on this project put in early and long hours. Thank you for your hard work and patience with some trying times along the way; again thank you. Regarding the solar lights along the Stricker Paseo sidewalk, it was agreed round bollard lights are better suited for that area. It was recommended to the Board for review. They will provide much needed light in that area for the people who walk at that time of day. The Facilities Committee values any homeowner input at our meetings. We evaluate all maintenance and equipment issues in the community. We hope you all enjoyed your holidays.
