| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2019 | 7 HOW TO FIX A LOOSE DOOR HANDLE Look at the handle on the inside of the door (the side that you stand on when you open it inwards). Rotate the handle until you will see a very small hole (1/16 inch diameter) at the base of the handle. Take an ice pick or a meat fork that has two tines (prongs) about 3/4 in. apart (or a similar object with a small point). Inside the hole there is a trigger which will release the handle. Stick the ice pick (or fork tines) into the hole, you will feel it press against the trigger, at the same time pull the handle out away from the door. Now remove the round (about 2 ½ in.) cover plate. If it is stuck use a chisel or a screwdriver to pry it away from the door (there should be a small cut-out in which to insert the screwdriver). There will be two screws that need to be tightened with a Phillips screwdriver. Replace the cover plate, then slip the handle back on and it should snap in place when the trigger engages again. Handyman Tips: We would be remiss if we did not thank the Four Seasons community for their support of our request for homemade baked goods and other treats for the Marines at 29 Palms. We delivered the 10 boxes of baked goods and treats. Your generous contributions this year and over the years are responsible for many grateful faces at 29 Palms Marine Corps base. Thank you! Thank you
