| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2019 | 21 President's Message I am pleased to inform you that I will be serving as President of the Art League for one more year. Carol Spoelstra will be the Vice President in charge of the Art Show, Susan Plaza will continue as Treasurer for the fourth year, Roz Miller will be the Secretary. We still have some committee chair positions open. The mission of the Art League is to encourage members to enjoy art and artistic endeavors. We have many art related activities and we welcome your participation. 2018 was a productive and fun year for the Art League. We ended the year with 77 members. We were able to hold painting lessons all year of different mediums. At our monthly meetings a demo artist gave a presentation and we held a mini show. We had two Art Shows, in the spring and the all. We had a field trip to Olvera Street Museums on the train. We were able to change the art display cases with new art three times during the year. For the first time, we had a Holiday Celebration to honor the teachers that provide painting lessons during the year. Each one of them received a Certificate of Appreciation as a token of gratitude. I would like to thank all of the volunteers that made possible a successful year. In order for our club to continue being successful, we need the collaboration of new volunteers. It is easy and fun when each one of us give a little support. We welcome new members: the yearly membership fee is $20. Our instructors teach all levels and all mediums, including new painting techniques. Join us; I am sure you will learn and have fun. Our membership chairperson is Helen Searcy. February's general meeting is Fri., Feb. 22 in the Multipurpose Room of the Main Clubhouse. Please take note of this change. Luz Perez will be the demo artist at the February meeting on oil wash, and will teach March 4, 11, and 18. Suni Godbold will teach Feb. 4, 11, and 18. The lessons are at the Arts and Crafts Room and the cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Jerry Searcy - 1st place, and Sue Lang ford - 3rd place.
