28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2019 | The Sun Lakes Friendship Club proudly presents "The Doug Gabriel Family Show" on Feb. 10 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The Doug Gabriel Show is a good, clean family show with a lot of variety. It has a talented cast, rib-tickling comedy, and a terrific ensemble of musicians. Cheryl is the show's Master of Ceremonies. She also sings her heart out and shares Doug's love for audiences. Jasmine is the featured singer and dancer. She is a real stand out throughout the show with her contemporary singing and dancing. Mary is a recent addition to the family and the show. She adds harmonies and dances and is just nice to be around. Jordan brings comedy to the show. You never know what he'll do next. Josh has been featured in the show since he was five-years-old. Now he is the full-time drummer and helps Doug produce the show. Doug started singing at the age of two and began professionally at the age of 12. He toured and opened for stars like Marie Osmond, Roy Clark, Tony Orlando, and Tanya Tucker, to name a few. As a long-time favorite in Branson, where he started his own show in 1994, his talent made him Branson's most awarded performer. He is the eighth longest running act in the Branson area, mainly because of his talent, the quality of his show, and his world-famous Mufftar, a guitar made out of a 1969 Thunderbird muffler! Tickets to the show are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and deliver them to 5168 Rio Bravo Drive. For cancellations and information, call Pat (951) 845-3789 or Leeann (909) 973-3143. A delicious buffet dinner is available in the restaurant for show goers by reservation only, beginning at 4:30 pm. Call the hostess (951) 769-6654 for more information. The Friendship Club Happy Cookers Happy Cookers invites you to their Feb. 22 meeting where you will travel the globe with Meltem Ladd of Two Ladd's Bakery. Come to the South Clubhouse at 11 am where the highly trained chef will demonstrate how to make a traditional Mediterranean dish, stuffed grape leaves. She will also offer some samples of her bakery temptations. Having graduated from the Cordon Bleu Patisserie Academy in 2007, Meltem has been training to compete and use her baking skills internationally. Meltem and her husband recently opened a wonderful bakery and sandwich shop in Cherry Valley. The aroma alone will let you know this bakery is something special. Happy Cookers is a great club where one can learn about cooking, taste treats and meet new friends. The club meets every fourth Friday of the month at the South Clubhouse. For membership information call Carolyn Wright at (951) 797-3568.
