| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2019 | 5 By Dan Comerford Treasurer's Report We currently are in the transition phase between the previous management company and having our monthly financials provided by First Service Residential (FSR). We rely on the last monthly report not only for the final recap of how the HOA was managed and what it cost the residents during the prior calendar year, but also for use by the auditors in preparing the annual audits and tax returns. In the transition period, the Board is working with the financial staff of FSR to develop the monthly reports as they are prepared/provided using the FSR accounting software. Shortly after the first iteration of the monthly reports (Balance sheet, Income statement (including labor summaries), general ledger, check register, as well as reserve and capital funds usage) are received, FSR will provide a training session for all Board members to become familiar with the reporting structure of the various reports, specifically highlighting the differences between the accounting software of FSR and the previous management company. In addition to becoming familiar with the report structures, Board members will also get more involved in the review and approval of the financials. There are new laws in California regarding the requirements of HOA Boards, requiring monthly and approval by the Board. We currently provide a brief recap at each open session Board Meeting. Homeowners could anticipate more in-depth discussion at the open sessions. Board members will be looking more closely at the cash flow situation to ensure the HOA always has enough cash on hand to pay the bills. FSR has on their staff investment specialists that will work with the Board to ensure that we have the best terms available for our investments. This should result in minor tweaks to our investment policy, and the Board anticipates frequent interfaces with FSR in this regard. The Sun Lakes Country Club Homeowners Association Annual Meeting of the Membership will be held on April 10. There will be two open positions on the Board of Directors. Each newly elected director will serve a two-year term. Any homeowner interested in running for the Board of Directors should fill out a Candidacy Form. Candidacy forms will be available in the administration office beginning Mon., Feb. 4 and must be returned no later than 5 pm on Fri., Feb. 22. The Inspector of Election will review each candidacy form it receives and place all eligible candidates on the ballot. Two "Meet the Candidates" forums will be conducted in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Members will be given the opportunity to ask questions to the candidates running for the Board. The first forum will be held on Mon., March 11 at 6 pm and the second will be Tues., March 12 at 10 am. The Member of Record Date is Mon., Feb. 18 and ballots will be mailed to each homeowner on Mon., March 11, 2019. 2019 Annual Meeting of the Membership and Election of Directors
