10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2019 | Grand Piano: If you've been to the Lodge recently you've noticed the lovely addition of a grand piano. The piano was purchased from a former resident of Four Seasons, it's 95 years old and the brand is Haines. On Dec. 4, a champagne reception was held in the Lodge Ballroom to introduce the piano to the community. David Tuvim played the piano, and Ross Brunetto accompanied him on the accordion. The sound of the piano is beautiful and if you're lucky enough to hear it being played have a seat and listen a while. Charity Holiday Luncheon: Thanks to co-chairperson Mary Swinney and her volunteers who organized the Charity Holiday Luncheon held on Dec. 6. It was a huge success. The centerpieces made by nine volunteers were beautiful and added to the spirit of the season, as did the musical duo playing and singing holiday songs. Francisco's Catering made a delicious creamy, cheesy potato soup served in a bread bowl. Mary Swinney, presented James Fleming, Lieutenant of the Salvation Army of Hemet with a check for $1,000 that was raised through the purchase of each ticket. Lieutenant Fleming spoke for a few minutes explaining how the funds will be used in our community. Thanks to all who attended. New Year's Eve Celebrations: The Enchanted Winter Gala 2018 was a huge success! Recycling tumbleweed? This may sound strange to some but to the New Year's Eve Committee it was a creative way to enhance the decorations. And wow did it. The lavishly decorated Ballroom was magically transformed into a winter wonderland. Backdrops of ice castles, white forests, and snowcapped mountains set the stage for the evening. Tables of blue and white added to the winter feel with centerpieces rivaling nature's beauty of fresh glistening snow atop delicate branches lighting the room. And of course two larger than life tumbleweed snowmen welcome attendees at the door. Residents and guests rang in the new year beginning with the enchanting and mesmerizing sounds of a "violin duet" that brought thunderous applause and a standing ovation — the perfect beginning to the evening. The dance floor was full the entire evening as party goers danced in the new year to the music of Hemet's own Psycohbillies. Once again, Francisco's team worked effortlessly to provide guests with over 200 delicious dinners. It took the talent and dedication of over 30 team members along with co-chairs Margie Culton, Patti Jones, and Roxy Snider to bring this event to fruition. Next year's celebration is already in the works. We hope you will join us to ring in the new year the Four Seasons way. Celebrating Wine Event: Do you enjoy drinking wine? Do you have friends who enjoy wine? Are you curious about how grapes become wine? This is the event for you. Falkner winery in Temecula will have their sommelier explaining all about wines, how the grapes are chosen, when the wine is ready to drink, and what food pairs with what wine. Eight wines will be served paired with specially selected food bites for each tasting. The last selection is a wonderful surprise tasting you won't want to miss. Please join us on Sat., Feb. 9 from 4 to 6 pm for this event. All wines will be available for purchase. We are limited to a maximum of 150 attendees. Tickets are on sale now through Feb. 3, for $30. Seating is open (no table assignments), so get your tickets early to be sure you don't miss this very special event! Volunteers Needed: We are looking forward to another beautiful Ladies Luncheon on May 4. We need your help to chair the event or volunteer. Please call Linda Adkins at (951) 223-3658 to let her know what you would like to do to help. MEET MAGGIE GRIMES I grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. My husband, Freddie, and I went to the same high school and reconnected at our 25th class reunion. We have four grandchildren who we visit often, all of them in the LA area. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree at University of Redlands, I worked as a Regional Facilities Manager for Prudential and Aetna insurance companies. We moved to Four Seasons in July 2010 and enjoy the many friendships we've made and the various activities available. I joined the Social Committee as a way to get involved and give back to our community. I sincerely encourage everyone to participate and volunteer when they can. It's a great way to meet people.
