| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2019 | 23 We are kicking-off another year of dancing to great music and it is not just Country Western! We learn dance routines that are also to contemporary songs, 50s and 60s music, Cha-Cha, Rumbas, and Waltzes! Our wonderfully entertaining instructor, Christine Alesiani, teaches three classes in Abravanel Hall; each to different skill levels. • Beginners – Thursday 2:30 – 3:30 pm • Intermediate – Monday 12:30 – 2 pm • Advanced – Tuesday 10:30 am – noon Come by and observe a class at no charge. You will see women and men of all ages. We laugh at our own missteps and "just keep moving." If you would like to be a member of Village Line Dancers, it is just $10 a year and $5 per class collected at the start of each class. If you have not yet signed up, you can submit a check for 2019 dues at the front desk at the Clubhouse at any time throughout the year for $10 per person. Make it payable to "Village Line Dancers" (NOTE: First- time members please give us your contact information; include email address if you have one). Village Line Dancers Ocean Hills Dance Troupe We are very excited to welcome Kailani Andreotti as our new teacher for Hawaiian dance classes. Kailani began her career at Don the Beachcomber in her native Hawaii. She has performed in many venues since, and from 2001 has directed a dance troupe, Kailani's Wahines, which performs at functions throughout the area, in addition to holding classes. She will be teaching on Saturday mornings in the Mykonos room at 10 am for intermediate/advanced and 11 am for beginners. All are welcome to come try it and see how much fun it is. Our tap and jazz classes are again quite active and welcoming new members. Since 2019 is not a performance year, we will be working on techniques and skills in addition to learning new routines from our very creative teacher, Yvonne Jessen. Those classes are held every Thursday in the Mykonos room at two different levels each. Newcomers are welcome to try beginning tap and jazz and experience the fun of moving to music. Additionally, our resident Sharon Lair will again entice us with her belly dance moves and veil work on Saturdays at 9 am in the Mykonos Room. Come try any or all of these exciting classes and experience for yourself the fun we have. For further information, contact our president, Connie Perkins, at (760) 509-4435.
