Yiddish Club
Chai, Yiddish Clubbers! The Club's new Board is so excited to
report that we have the programs and entertainment worked out for
the entire year, and are delighted to invite you to our first meeting:
Mon., Feb. 18, at 7 pm. We will have a brief welcome, a quick vote, a
speedy installation, and then a wonderful music program.
We are thrilled to welcome Evan Kent, a Cantor from Israel, who
will perform a musical program entitled "Shards: Putting the Pieces
Together." That outstanding pianist that we have all enjoyed, Jacqui
Silver, will accompany Evan! It's a one-man show filled with songs,
stories, and a couple of puppets. Evan will share the story of his
emigration from Los Angeles to Israel; intertwined with his story is
the saga of his grandparents' immigration to the United States at the
turn of the 20th century. The show expresses the eternal search for
home and homeland.
Although the stories share Evan's own tale, there is a universality
shared throughout the show that makes this performance one that
will touch your heart and soul.
We must have RSVPs to provide dessert and set up tables, so please
(by Thurs., Feb. 14, at 5 pm) respond to Lainy at LFV2@sbcglobal.net
or by phone at (760) 726-1865. You are invited to bring friends, so
please mention their name/s when you RSVP on their behalf. Til
then… gey gezunterheyt!
