38 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2019 | Papercrafting Club After an exciting Do Dues Day, the Papercrafting Club is now 62 strong and growing. In addition to four regular Card Making classes each week, we will have a 10-week introduction to card making session taught by the club's Founder, Barb Roe. Each week the new members will leave class with a completed card. Barb teaches fun easy ways to create cards using Washi Tape, punches, masking tape, paint chips, and punches. They will also learn easy cutting techniques and how to create simple colorful backgrounds with stamps and inks droplets. Barb began her card making career as a demonstrator for a craft company and then taught in craft stores. She donates many of her creations to charity and groups such as "Operation Write Home." Barb says, "Teaching others how to make cards is what makes me happy!" Thinking Outside the Envelope (TOTE) is another fun aspect of the Papercrafting Club. This class focuses on "non-card" paper crafts. Jan Malone, a long-time member of Card Making recently taught participants how to create adorable Wine Glass Tea Lights. Save the Date: The 2019 Spring Craft Fair sponsored by the OHCC Papercrafting Club will be held on Sat., March 30 from 9 am to 1 pm in the Abravanel Hall. If you live in the Village and are interested in selling your hand-made creations, you can pick up an application at the front desk of the Clubhouse. For more information, please contact coordinators Alison Vincent: avincent15@cox.net or Karin Barnes at karinlee369@gmail.com. Residents who missed Do Dues Day may still join the club by leaving a $10 check, along with their contact information in an envelope marked "Papercrafting Club" at the front desk of the Clubhouse. Our Membership Director, Karen Lohr, will contact them and provide further information about the club. Dues Day with Vicki Green & Karen Lohr TOTE class Tea Light taught by Jan Malone
