Lifestyles Advisory marketing Advisory Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart." ~ Elizabeth Andrew We hope that you were able to attend the January 2019 Sun Lakes Activity Day. If you did, you saw the many clubs and volunteers. Volunteering is multi-faceted in its importance to the beautiful Sun Lakes community. Not only does it enrich it, but it brings people together as a community. However, volunteering isn't only important because it helps to better the Sun Lakes community, it's really a welcome way to feel good about yourself and the bonus is you get to share that positivity with those you volunteer with. The Lifestyles Advisory Committee, along with the Editor, Courtney Taylor of ImageUp, are focusing on keeping the community better informed as to what the various Advisory committees are all about. Our goal is to accomplish this by encouraging and helping these committees in writing and publishing an article each month in the Lifestyles. (If any of the committees would like help in writing these articles, please feel free to contact any of the Lifestyles Advisory Committee members and they will be happy to assist you.) Did you know that you are welcome to attend and observe a meeting of most of the Advisory Committees? This will help you to find out what they are all about, and maybe decide if you are interested in joining. The Advisory Committee meetings are also posted in the right hand side of the SLCC website. Don't forget the community page - Things we are grateful for — where we continue to spread positivity! If you have someone to thank, or want to spread a little good cheer, please send your gratitude to sunlakesnews@yahoo.com. Put "Gratitude" in the subject line. Let's Play Golf! If you've never played golf, it's not too late to learn. And, if it's been awhile since you've played, or you'd simply like to play more, why not get that great feeling of hitting a good shot, or simply that "walk in the park" sensation playing golf provides? Ask anyone who plays here, and they will tell you our golf courses are among the best they've played. And there's no better time to take advantage of our great golf courses here at Sun Lakes. Better yet, golf rates have recently been reduced! The new and improved rates are listed on the Sun Lakes website under the Golf/Membership links, and in the Golf Pro Shop. The golf professionals and staff in the Pro Shop would love to help you learn, or re-learn, the game of golf. So, c'mon – get out and enjoy that "walk in the park." Let's play golf (and bring a friend)! New Residents Survey: When new residents move into Sun Lakes, they are asked to complete a New Residents Survey. The purpose of the survey is to compile data regarding what attracts people to our great community, and what activities and/or amenities are of greatest interest to them. From July through December of 2018, 49 surveys were completed. Following is a summary of some key information obtained from these surveys (number of responses in parentheses): How did you first learn about Sun Lakes Country Club? • Family / Friends (26) What attracted you to move to Sun Lakes Country Club? • 55+ Community (40) • Gated / Security (37) • Recreational Amenities (26) • Clubs / Groups (26) • Location, Value and Golf were the next three most popular responses Which Sun Lakes CC member amenities / activities are you most likely to utilize? • Restaurant / Lounge (42) • Fitness Centers (38) • Pools / Jacuzzi (36) • Golf Facilities (23) Welcome, new residents – and THANK YOU for completing the New Resident Survey! 18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2019 | Sun Lakes Advisory Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes.
